Episode Transcript
[00:00:13] Speaker A: Have I been a crazy bird lady on main in this server yet? Because I've been tracking every bird that I've seen for the last three months in my birds app. Yes.
[00:00:27] Speaker B: Wow, that's crazy. Would have never guessed.
[00:00:29] Speaker A: It's really, really fun and I think that more people should take the time to know and learn about birds.
[00:00:39] Speaker C: And it's really, it's like Pokemon Go, but, but for real, like real life.
[00:00:45] Speaker A: This dummy thick book, Birds of blank insert state here, state.
And it's so fun because I sit at my kitchen table and work from home and I'll peek out my window and I'm like, oh, a white crowned sparrow.
Oh, a common grackle on the way to work.
Oh, I'm getting the books from the book drop and I can hear a red winged blackbird.
I don't know.
[00:01:14] Speaker C: You can hear that?
[00:01:15] Speaker A: Yes, I know what they sound like.
[00:01:18] Speaker D: If you, if you want, there's an app I think it's called like Merlin bird.
[00:01:22] Speaker A: I have the Merlin app and I love it.
[00:01:25] Speaker D: One of my, one of my friends, when we were at Gen Con, we were walking back to our hotel and they were, they. We heard some bird and they got so excited and they were like, wait, wait, let me pull up my apple. And I was like, this is the most wholesome thing I've seen all day. Because it was like, it was one of my friends who was like 6:3. So just like what a fucking bean pole of a man just pulls out his phone and is like holding it up to this tree to try and figure out what this bird was. It's so cute.
[00:02:05] Speaker A: I would highly recommend. This is not sponsored whenever, unless. Merlin bird app. You want to sponsor me?
[00:02:11] Speaker C: Sponsored by birds.
[00:02:13] Speaker A: I just think it's great and it's so fun and I think we should.
[00:02:19] Speaker C: Be sponsored if we can get one more thing and then from birds as.
[00:02:21] Speaker A: A whole, that'd be sick.
What's everyone's favorite bird? Ready to go?
[00:02:27] Speaker D: Oh, you're asking me to pick a favorite child? That's not fair.
[00:02:32] Speaker B: Hummingbirds. I was gonna say they're tiny and cute and their wings flap fast and their heart beats 1,260 beats per minute.
[00:02:42] Speaker D: I'm a corvid girly. I really, really like crows. I also saw a crow stealing a chick fil a bag the other day and it was the best thing I saw all day.
But also big fan of tits.
Number one for the name. Number two, they look like plushies.
[00:02:59] Speaker C: And I love you.
I, I know that magpies are like very common. And like pigeon esque in some parts of the country, but they, they don't live here. And I think they look so cool.
I don't know. I think they're interesting.
[00:03:16] Speaker A: They're very.
[00:03:16] Speaker C: They look really neat. They're like bigger than I thought they'd be. Like, I was very excited when I saw one for real.
[00:03:23] Speaker A: I think they're also in the corvid family.
[00:03:26] Speaker C: That's fair. I do not know anything about birds.
[00:03:29] Speaker E: I have a lot of favorites. My favorite today right now is the spoonbill.
They make cool noises.
[00:03:39] Speaker A: My favorite bird.
Thank you so much for asking. My favorite bird is the American woodcock. It's a great little bird they make. There's lots of videos of them on Instagram, but I don't know if they're videos that everyone sees or if I've just fine tuned my feed to send me every video of the American woodcock that is out there, but it's the one that goes like me and it's really great and everyone should look them up.
[00:04:05] Speaker F: Oh, oh, right.
[00:04:07] Speaker D: You're not on TikTok anymore. But there's a page on TikTok of this guy in the UK who I guess he's. I guess he's like a researcher and this is his actual job. Right? But he'll like, he'll like catch birds. He'll.
[00:04:21] Speaker C: Oh yeah. And like sticks them in the tiny, like.
[00:04:23] Speaker A: Oh yeah.
[00:04:23] Speaker D: Sticks them in like film canisters to weigh them and the birds just like stay there with their little feet sticking up and I think it's the cutest thing ever.
Another great bird. Piping plovers.
[00:04:36] Speaker C: Yes. I love plovers. They are very cute.
[00:04:40] Speaker D: Hi, welcome to Spells and Whistles.
I didn't know how to segue that, so I'm just gonna say hi.
[00:04:47] Speaker B: Bird whistles.
[00:04:48] Speaker C: Sorry, I. Sorry. Okay. I want to add one more, which is that I do think the killdeer is a really interesting bird because of what they do.
Because they like, no, they don't kill deer. They. They like.
So they'll. They'll pretend to act dead in front of animal like predators away from their, their babies. And then the. The predator will get close to like mom or whatever and then all of a sudden, mom like books. It is like, got you trick do. It's awesome.
[00:05:26] Speaker D: Anyway, hi, welcome to Spells and Whistles where we all are very normal about birds.
Clearly. I'm so normal about.
[00:05:33] Speaker C: If this is not Brandon Lee Mulligan content, I don't know what is.
[00:05:37] Speaker B: I have the bird facts.
I don't know. I Don't know about you.
[00:05:41] Speaker A: Yeah, Jay's perfectly normal about him.
[00:05:44] Speaker B: Y'all, Y'all around here Lynching tits and talks, and I'm like, okay.
[00:05:51] Speaker D: I'm so normal about birds. I made Melon's entire family and half her dreams about birds.
[00:05:57] Speaker A: They're just swell.
[00:05:59] Speaker E: My grandfather lived in an area where he was able to have a big garden in the back of his house, and his wife grew a lot of flowers that hummingbirds liked. And so, like, on a good day in the summer, you'd see, like, five or six hummingbirds, like, hanging out in the backyard, like, zipping around with each other and drinking stuff. But one of them, one time, like, in the evening, like, they're. They were old. Like, in the evening before sunset, but, like, at old people bedtime, got its beak stuck in the.
Like, the mesh of the window. What is that called?
[00:06:40] Speaker A: Like, the screen?
[00:06:42] Speaker E: The screen. I don't know what. That went out of my brain, but it got stuck in the screen and then it died.
[00:06:48] Speaker A: Oh, no.
[00:06:50] Speaker E: But then he made a little. He. He was a woodworker, and then he made a little coffin for it and put some. Like, tore up some cotton balls and buried it.
[00:06:59] Speaker D: That's so, so cute.
[00:07:01] Speaker E: But first he mailed it to me.
[00:07:05] Speaker B: What is this?
[00:07:07] Speaker D: He mails the honey Grandpa.
[00:07:10] Speaker A: Is this the grandpa that was married to your grandma that gave you a tube of scap for Christmas?
[00:07:16] Speaker E: That's correct.
[00:07:17] Speaker B: What?
[00:07:21] Speaker E: My grandma gave us, like, a. Like a cookie tin tube and was like, what bones are these? And we opened it, and it was a bunch of scapulas. And we're like, grandma, these are scapulas. And she was like, good job, everybody. They're scapulas. Do you want them? And we were like, no, dude.
[00:07:38] Speaker B: She sent them to you for trivia, not an actual inquiry for trivia.
[00:07:45] Speaker A: We were there for Christmas.
[00:07:46] Speaker E: No, it was at Christmas, at family Christmas. She was like, this one's for you guys.
[00:07:51] Speaker B: And you, like, handed me six years, and you've never told me that this happened.
[00:07:56] Speaker A: Just this last Christmas.
[00:07:57] Speaker E: Yeah, this was.
[00:07:57] Speaker A: I was there for this one, okay?
[00:07:59] Speaker B: I was like, oh, my.
[00:08:01] Speaker E: It was crazy.
[00:08:03] Speaker B: I. My.
[00:08:05] Speaker D: I can't.
[00:08:05] Speaker A: I'm sorry.
[00:08:06] Speaker D: I just cried.
[00:08:07] Speaker A: My.
[00:08:09] Speaker B: And then he revealed it to me. You know, sometimes. Sometimes. Listen.
[00:08:14] Speaker D: No, Ben. Because your family is wild.
[00:08:17] Speaker E: Yeah.
[00:08:17] Speaker B: Listen. Sometimes I sit here and I think, you know, as a white person, like, white families can't be that weird, right?
Like, they're weird. I know they are, but, like, not that weird, right? And then I hear shit like, Being shown a pile of scapulas.
[00:08:39] Speaker E: Yeah.
[00:08:40] Speaker D: Speaking of the token non white person in this call. White families are weird, y'all.
[00:08:46] Speaker C: I just. I just get emotionally aggressive emails from my grandma, so I did one time tell her that I was gonna put the family crest on my back as a tramp stamp. And I thought she was gonna die.
[00:09:02] Speaker E: That's awesome.
Whose house is this?
[00:09:06] Speaker A: Oh, my gosh.
[00:09:08] Speaker B: That's insane. That's insane.
[00:09:11] Speaker C: She went, like, crazy. She pale white and, like, did not want to say anything. And it's like. That's.
[00:09:16] Speaker E: That's so funny.
[00:09:19] Speaker A: Wow.
Speaking of crests, I'm sure they have those.
[00:09:26] Speaker B: Welcome back to.
[00:09:26] Speaker A: Maybe the Billet family has once.
[00:09:29] Speaker B: Oh, maybe.
[00:09:33] Speaker C: Okay, I'm crying right now.
[00:09:34] Speaker A: They actually probably do need someone else to do the recap.
Okay.
[00:09:40] Speaker C: Last time, everybody discussed. Discussed. Oh, my God. Last time, everyone discusses the wish spell at the table. And it suggests that everyone writes down a wish and puts them in a bowl and that they choose tomorrow. And that's a tomorrow problem. In the meantime, Myla goes to the library, rips out some pages. Melwyn asks Rasha some questions, and is, like, not very happy with the answers. And then it also has a vision from the Mind Flayer, who then gives him a mind blast ability to maybe help them out with whatever's coming next.
[00:10:13] Speaker D: It's the zero hesitation, just nomming on that fucking crystal immediately.
[00:10:19] Speaker C: And the crystal tastes like worm grog and mashed carrots. So crunchy.
[00:10:24] Speaker D: Mash carrots.
[00:10:27] Speaker C: Yeah, and it was crunchy, so that's good.
Okay. I actually wanted to talk about this before we recorded.
[00:10:34] Speaker D: So whoever comes to Spells and Whistles where we give you pleasant thoughts.
[00:10:40] Speaker C: But you got. What do you guys.
It's fine. We're gonna cut this out. What do you guys want to do next? I. I think the thought was, go find Lexia, maybe. Is that still the plan?
[00:10:52] Speaker A: I don't think Ospy Auden has been around for any of those conversations. So she is just going to be like, la de da da da.
[00:10:59] Speaker D: No, you were there for that one.
[00:11:01] Speaker A: The first one.
[00:11:02] Speaker D: Oh, where we said. Where we said, like, oh, no.
[00:11:08] Speaker B: No.
[00:11:08] Speaker D: We had that conversation above table where I said I wanted to go look for this bitch. Never mind.
[00:11:14] Speaker B: What? Let me. Okay. I love this idea. Definitely down to do this from like, we. What is our goal in finding Lexia? Like what? Like, just so I have an.
[00:11:24] Speaker D: I thought Milo wanted.
[00:11:25] Speaker B: What's our.
[00:11:26] Speaker D: I thought Myla wanted Melwen to try and unlock more power or something.
[00:11:30] Speaker B: I mean, yeah, that's what she wants, but.
[00:11:33] Speaker D: Yeah, I mean, Melwyn wants answers now.
[00:11:37] Speaker B: Cool.
[00:11:38] Speaker D: Now she's grumpy lady.
[00:11:39] Speaker B: I just. Yeah, I just wanted to make. Sorry, my brain's a little bushy right now, so. Because I'm just tired. So I just wanted to make sure that, like, we had a. Like we didn't get there. And then we were like, what are we gonna do?
So, yeah, I'm 100%.
[00:11:53] Speaker D: What's the plan? Who knows? Yeah, no, you're valid. Sorry. I'm still recovering from the fact that, A, you were sent a dead hummingbird corpse, and B, you were given a tube of scapulas like that. I'm recovering from that still. I don't think I'll ever be over that.
[00:12:11] Speaker B: ID hasn't shared any of his dream shit with us yet. Correct.
[00:12:17] Speaker D: The mind flayer shit.
[00:12:18] Speaker E: I kind of skimmed over it this day because we did the wish and crystal thing in the morning.
ID will share about that. He saw Erendrul going.
Oh, crap. What country was it going? Towards Eblie.
But is he already there? Do we know that?
[00:12:47] Speaker D: Yeah, that's what it was in the vision.
[00:12:50] Speaker E: But right now, do we know where he is?
[00:12:53] Speaker D: That's a great question. Do I have.
[00:12:57] Speaker B: No, we don't.
[00:12:57] Speaker C: You guys have the, like, thing that arcanist Amalia gave you that was like. Here's where the symbols show up most commonly.
[00:13:04] Speaker E: Oh, let's check that and see where he's at right now.
[00:13:09] Speaker C: It matches up.
[00:13:10] Speaker E: Okay, great.
So does anybody in our party have sending?
[00:13:17] Speaker D: I do. Could you wait, let me actually check that before I just say it? I just said it.
I'm sure I do. Do I not?
[00:13:28] Speaker B: I can't take it.
[00:13:29] Speaker D: So, okay, the answer is no. I don't have it. But I also don't know what the. I took on my level up for spells. So we'll just move on for now.
[00:13:39] Speaker A: We do have that sending stone. I wonder if that's something that we could tinker with. An altar, too, to act as, like, a conduit, maybe. I don't know how magic items work. I'm a barbarian.
[00:13:51] Speaker C: You know, we're getting to the end of sessions. I would. I would let you do that.
[00:13:55] Speaker B: What are we trying to sending for?
[00:13:57] Speaker E: I'm trying to warn the country of Nazmoor that Erendrill is heading their way and that they should fortify and get prepped.
[00:14:06] Speaker B: Herd, Chef.
I mean, if we want to, I can tink. I can try and tinker with it and see if I can redirect it. As a like a once a day sending spell.
[00:14:17] Speaker E: It will pull out his ahri sending stone. I don't think we need this.
[00:14:23] Speaker F: Oh, wait. Do you still have yours?
[00:14:26] Speaker C: Yeah. She pulls hers out too.
[00:14:28] Speaker F: Would having more than one help, Myla?
[00:14:30] Speaker B: Maybe. I mean, it would be a maybe if I could instead of riching the symbols together, if I'm able to just like create like a bigger thing that can like sort of shoot it out with the distribution of power, then yeah, I think I should be able to make it work, hopefully.
Is that okay with everyone?
[00:14:47] Speaker F: Do you want.
[00:14:48] Speaker E: Yeah, sure, let's do it.
[00:14:50] Speaker F: Do you want help or.
[00:14:51] Speaker B: I'm okay, thank you. She smiles.
[00:14:54] Speaker C: Cool. Make a tools check for sure.
[00:15:00] Speaker B: Tinkers.
Tinker's tools. I said tinker's tools.
[00:15:05] Speaker C: Yes, ma'am.
[00:15:06] Speaker E: More like chef's tools because she cooking.
[00:15:09] Speaker B: Whoa.
[00:15:10] Speaker C: Yeah.
[00:15:11] Speaker B: Cooking with fire.
Oh, my gosh.
It's an 18 on the die plus 13.
[00:15:19] Speaker E: Damn.
[00:15:20] Speaker B: So 31. 31. 31.
[00:15:25] Speaker E: Damn.
[00:15:26] Speaker D: Nearly.
[00:15:27] Speaker C: Great. You have.
You can take both and both will do one sending a day, I think, my love. So you essentially have. You essentially have two sendings a day.
[00:15:38] Speaker B: Awesome. I think Myla at first was like, oh, maybe if I can combine these two together. But I think that as she's literally tampering with her things, she looks at the notes that she pulled from the library, which she sort of pulls out for everyone else's view out of her normal bag, a stack of like torn out papers of different sizes and scripts.
And she goes through and she finds one specifically about like redirecting magic from like an internal connection towards an outward connection. She's like, oh, okay, so if I can just take this. And she kind of like pulls out a strand of hair and it turns from blue to purple. And she uses the magic within the purple magic in her hair to sort of weave a new sending connection across each of the stones.
I did it.
[00:16:27] Speaker E: Awesome. Could I use one, test it out?
[00:16:30] Speaker B: Oh, yeah, for sure. She'll Toss1 to ID.
[00:16:34] Speaker E: ID will try to sending to. I think the closest thing that he would know would be like an ambassador from Nazmoor who was in Gosnesh because he worked a lot with some government people in Gosnesh. And he'll send to that person and say, erendril and a bunch of turned people are headed towards Nazmoor. Please fortify and prepare.
We will be there as soon as we can.
[00:17:06] Speaker C: Yeah, they just. Thank you for the heads up and understand.
[00:17:10] Speaker E: Awesome.
Complete.
[00:17:13] Speaker D: Does Id say it that way?
[00:17:15] Speaker E: No, that's a star Reference?
[00:17:17] Speaker A: No, he's allergic to fun.
[00:17:19] Speaker D: It would be funnier if he did.
[00:17:21] Speaker A: Great. So they know that he's coming. Now, are we going to go and beat him up, or what are we doing?
[00:17:35] Speaker B: Are we ready to beat him up?
[00:17:36] Speaker E: I'm good.
[00:17:39] Speaker A: May be.
[00:17:41] Speaker B: I mean, what makes sense to me is that we wait until Ari's power comes back, and then we do it.
[00:17:48] Speaker C: Then she actually nods in agreement with that one.
[00:17:50] Speaker B: If you think that that's an okay way to use your power.
[00:17:53] Speaker C: That didn't seem very genuine, but, yeah. No, I agree with you.
[00:17:57] Speaker B: I don't speak in emotion. I speak in fact.
[00:18:00] Speaker A: Okay, so we're gonna wait a week.
[00:18:04] Speaker D: Just like we.
[00:18:05] Speaker A: For real?
[00:18:05] Speaker D: For real.
[00:18:08] Speaker C: Rasha comes in and is like me too, and then leaves.
Get it?
[00:18:15] Speaker A: Speak on that.
[00:18:18] Speaker C: God.
[00:18:19] Speaker A: All right, so we'll wait a week until then.
What's next?
[00:18:28] Speaker B: Well, we can try and fix IDs time bomb heart. Or if Melwyn wants more answers about her mother. That is a goddess. We could go do that, too.
[00:18:39] Speaker A: Oh.
[00:18:39] Speaker F: I mean, wait.
[00:18:41] Speaker C: Arctair's is, like, really? That's wild.
[00:18:44] Speaker F: Really?
[00:18:44] Speaker D: Oh, in response to.
[00:18:47] Speaker F: Oh, right. You complicated.
[00:18:50] Speaker C: What are you asking about?
[00:18:52] Speaker F: Kind of.
Among other things.
[00:18:56] Speaker C: Cool.
[00:18:57] Speaker F: I was gonna tell you, but he fell asleep.
[00:18:59] Speaker C: It's true.
[00:19:00] Speaker A: So how do we go about doing that? Mellie, that's really big.
[00:19:06] Speaker F: Problem is OSPA is kind of not a small area to look in. But if we were going to.
[00:19:16] Speaker C: She said she was.
[00:19:18] Speaker F: That's where she last was seen 12 years ago. But if we wanted to start, we could maybe ask my dads where they found me.
[00:19:29] Speaker A: I think that's a great idea. Plus, it'll be nice to check in on them, right?
[00:19:34] Speaker F: Sure. It's. It's. It's weird. Kind of, if that makes sense.
Because of the whole she, like, points.
[00:19:43] Speaker C: To her head, the feelings thing.
[00:19:47] Speaker F: Yeah, that. Ah, it's a start. Wait, it's just not really on our way, is the problem.
[00:19:54] Speaker D: I don't think. I don't know where the Are we.
[00:19:56] Speaker A: Hold up in the north.
Yeah, we're gonna need to, like, airship.
[00:20:03] Speaker B: Or are we in ea. Claire?
[00:20:04] Speaker C: No, you're in trailer. Okay. Yeah, because that's where the Big Tree is.
[00:20:09] Speaker B: Okay.
[00:20:10] Speaker D: Yeah, because that's where. Yeah, because it's north of rain things.
[00:20:13] Speaker F: Not Big Tree close. Luckily, Raphael's pretty, like, southern in ospy, but. Still not sure if we want to pass through kindir again, though.
[00:20:24] Speaker B: Well, we know that all of the information of your mother is sort of scrubbed from the history, so why don't we start with looking at history of Auspie that has giant, like, divots in it where there's no information for like a year or two. Something was scrubbed clean. Pattern and the disruption of.
[00:20:45] Speaker F: I guess that makes sense.
[00:20:47] Speaker B: Yeah, it does.
[00:20:48] Speaker A: I can go and see if there's any skyships heading out anytime soon.
[00:20:53] Speaker F: Our best bet would probably be going to Kindir and then making the trip to Rafel from there because Rayfell's small. But I'm not sure if we want.
[00:21:03] Speaker D: To go to Kindir again.
[00:21:05] Speaker A: I mean, if the Flayer is gone and the puppet's also gone, then presumably there's not much to worry about there.
[00:21:18] Speaker D: Well, the.
[00:21:19] Speaker F: The puppet wasn't in Kindia proper. It was in the weird. Oh, they're like middle area in between.
[00:21:26] Speaker A: I'll go see what's available.
[00:21:27] Speaker F: Should not go that way again.
[00:21:30] Speaker A: Arun's gonna go investigation gate.
[00:21:34] Speaker C: Rasha did say she had guesses on where Lexia was.
[00:21:40] Speaker A: So are you. Which route are we going? Are we asking Rasha or jumping in?
[00:21:47] Speaker D: Probably faster if we ask Rasha.
[00:21:50] Speaker A: Cool.
[00:21:51] Speaker F: Ari, is it all right if we talk to Rasha?
[00:21:53] Speaker C: She just shrugs and she's not even done shrugging him and Rasha shows up. I'm sorry, you have a question?
[00:22:01] Speaker F: I do, actually.
Also figured out how to get Rasha to come out without having to ask Ari a question. Did. Did that. Last night, you mentioned you have guesses where arcanist Lexia might be. Elaborate. Yes, please.
[00:22:18] Speaker C: They are merely predictions based on previous.
[00:22:21] Speaker F: Yes, I understand that. Answers would be nice. What were your predictions? What were your guesses?
[00:22:28] Speaker C: She is likely hiding the highest predictable location percentage is 67%. Location prediction would be her personal sanctum.
Sanctum Location prediction.
Beneath the Institute of Arcana and Alchemy.
Secondary sanctum location prediction. Ciculu. Anything else?
[00:22:57] Speaker D: Oh, and we'll look to the others.
[00:22:59] Speaker B: I think that's it.
[00:23:00] Speaker C: She disappeared. It's getting better every time.
[00:23:04] Speaker D: I don't think. Where is Ciculu?
[00:23:06] Speaker C: I've gotta look on my map real quick because I don't remember.
[00:23:09] Speaker D: It's not marked on the one we have pinned.
[00:23:13] Speaker C: It is the where the volcano is on the super north part of the map.
[00:23:19] Speaker D: Oh, it's over there.
[00:23:22] Speaker C: Uhhuh.
[00:23:23] Speaker D: Oh, that's way. Ooh.
[00:23:25] Speaker C: So Ospy owns everything. Owns, you know, controls everything across that bridge to that island and then that first part. And then those are like the two little dashed lines. And everything past that is a sanctuary.
[00:23:38] Speaker A: Ooh.
[00:23:39] Speaker D: Oh, interesting. Okay.
[00:23:42] Speaker C: But people do not go there. I have clout Even Auspi does not cross the bridge very often. Ever.
[00:23:48] Speaker D: Gee, I wonder why.
[00:23:50] Speaker A: And would anyone have heard of this Institute of Arcana and Alchemy? Mosa Milo or Melwyn?
[00:24:00] Speaker D: The Institute. Right.
[00:24:01] Speaker B: Yeah. That's. Oh, we've never really called Arcana. That's the Institute.
[00:24:07] Speaker A: I've only just known it as the Institute.
[00:24:10] Speaker B: I was like, I like Autumn made my flashbacks.
[00:24:15] Speaker C: Where's Culu?
[00:24:16] Speaker B: Okay. Okay. Huh. And where's the institute? And everyone just being like.
[00:24:22] Speaker F: You mentioned the institute's kind of buried, right?
[00:24:27] Speaker A: We saw it burned down.
[00:24:29] Speaker B: Yeah, it's burned. The thing that's buried is ID's lab.
[00:24:33] Speaker D: I'm thinking about the lab. You guys do it first. Melwyn would know that. Ignore that.
[00:24:42] Speaker F: Well.
[00:24:43] Speaker A: Well, Sekulu is a.
A sanctuary. I can navigate those fairly well. Being from one probably. And that is very far away.
[00:24:56] Speaker F: So I don't know my Ladina.
[00:24:58] Speaker C: It also was the secondary like prediction.
[00:25:01] Speaker F: Yeah. Do you know anything about stuff underneath the institute? Maybe.
[00:25:08] Speaker B: Hey God, can I make a check to see if I know anything about things that are underneath the institute?
[00:25:14] Speaker C: Sure. Yeah. Do an advantage history check.
[00:25:17] Speaker B: Wahoo. I like advantage. I got two Natty 19s. Whoa, whoa, whoa.
[00:25:25] Speaker E: Nice.
[00:25:26] Speaker B: She's rolling on fire.
[00:25:30] Speaker C: There's nothing like from what? There's no like tunnels or anything from the institute that went down any further than like maybe a secret like cellar sized room under or something like that. There's a very large possibility that there are things like at the base of the mountain. But you never really went down that far to know.
But that's like probably what it's talking about more than anything else is like something at the base of the mountain that's like pretty close to underneath, quote unquote, underneath the institute.
[00:26:03] Speaker B: Would you question. Would you say since we know more about this arcanist Lexia than most and that we know about Lexia's relation to Melwen, that we're like fairly familiar with Lexia.
[00:26:21] Speaker D: You should try and SCRY basic.
[00:26:27] Speaker C: What's the lower down one from that?
[00:26:30] Speaker B: No, I'm looking for a first. I can't do that. I don't think. I can't do that. I'm looking, I'm looking to see if I could use this other sending stone to sending to them.
[00:26:40] Speaker C: I see.
I mean you can definitely. You can definitely give it a shot. Yeah.
[00:26:46] Speaker B: Yeah. Might as well, right?
[00:26:48] Speaker D: Sure.
[00:26:49] Speaker C: What are you saying?
[00:26:50] Speaker B: Myla is gonna pull out the stone and is going to sort of like lightly tug on the like strand of hair of purple that is on it? And she is going to say, just trying to reach Arcanus. Lexia, like channeling in on like what she knows about Melwen's magic and her relationship with this person, even though small but still significant to her power overall. And she's going to say, my name is Myla Billet. I know your birth daughter. She. And we are seeking answers from you. Ciculu or Sanctum. Would love to chat.
[00:27:39] Speaker C: You can tell that this sending attempts to go through and is blocked by something on like her end.
[00:27:50] Speaker A: That sounds like Sanctum.
[00:27:51] Speaker C: But if you'd like to try to.
But if you'd like to try. If you want to try to like quote unquote, trace the call or something.
[00:27:59] Speaker B: Yeah, I would.
[00:28:00] Speaker C: We can chat.
[00:28:01] Speaker B: Yeah, I would love to. I mean I'd love to do that.
[00:28:06] Speaker C: Yeah. Make an Arcana check.
[00:28:08] Speaker B: Absolutely.
[00:28:09] Speaker D: I wonder. So Melon learned how to do that weird like energy gathering, tracing, connection thing from Arcanist. Her first name was Joy. I don't remember her last name. The other Arcanist, the one we worked with, would she maybe be able to help Milo with this by tracing that magic signal?
[00:28:30] Speaker C: Sure.
[00:28:31] Speaker A: That's a really good. I like it.
[00:28:33] Speaker D: I don't know what the fuck kind of arcana roll. Maybe I don't know. Or give Mila Advantage one of the two.
[00:28:38] Speaker C: Yeah, yeah. I think Milo just took advantage on an arcana roll.
[00:28:41] Speaker B: Cool. Sorry, I should have asked before I did it. That's on me.
[00:28:44] Speaker D: There you go.
[00:28:45] Speaker B: I would have just said the other roll, but it's going with advantage. It's going to be.
[00:28:51] Speaker D: You definitely have better Arcana than I do with Advantage.
[00:28:53] Speaker B: It's going to be a 17 on the die plus 13 for a 30.
[00:28:56] Speaker D: Yep.
Teamwork.
[00:28:58] Speaker C: I have to link my own map.
[00:29:00] Speaker D: Lets go team.
[00:29:01] Speaker C: Nerds.
Well, so two things. The first thing is that it seems to stop in the northern mountains between Rain and Gosnesesh. So definitely more the Institute route. The second thing is that it seems like a sort of like divination blocker sort of thing. Like if you tried to track her or something, it would probably be impossible or incredibly difficult. Like so sending doesn't go through either. Right. Because that's a mm for sure, you know.
[00:29:38] Speaker B: Yeah. Milo will say it traces back towards the route of the Institute. So I believe statistically that would be our best bet. And she does air quotes as she says bet.
[00:29:50] Speaker F: Are you all right? Heading back there.
[00:29:53] Speaker B: We need to do it. So let's go.
[00:29:57] Speaker F: Yes, but if you're not. Alright.
[00:30:00] Speaker B: If I only did things based off of How I felt about them in the moment. I feel like I would be at a very different spot right now.
So I appreciate you checking in on me, but we need to go. This is something we have to do, and that's that.
[00:30:18] Speaker F: Okay, then.
[00:30:20] Speaker A: I'll go look for some tickets.
[00:30:28] Speaker C: I love Auden so much.
[00:30:31] Speaker A: Kind of, like shuffles out the door, like, oobly.
[00:30:35] Speaker C: Um, great. So I think, yeah, I mean, the last time you went, I think you went to the capital city of Gosnesh and then kind of just traveled along the base of the mountains.
[00:30:45] Speaker D: That's sounds correct.
[00:30:47] Speaker C: Very likely a similar journey. I won't make us do the whole shebang. We don't have time for that. We did it once. We don't need to do it again.
[00:30:59] Speaker B: We don't need to do that. But can I ask what everyone's vibes are as we are on this journey? Again, Like, I. Like, I just want to know what people's. Like what people's shit is.
[00:31:13] Speaker A: Ben.
[00:31:14] Speaker E: I want to answer that. And also, I have a question. How long does it take?
[00:31:18] Speaker C: The. The, like, skyship is day, same day. But that walk was, like, a week, I think.
[00:31:26] Speaker E: Oh, boy.
[00:31:27] Speaker D: Oh, Jesus, brother.
It's not gonna work.
[00:31:31] Speaker C: I mean, we could try to find somebody who would pilot, like, a private skyship.
It would cost a lot of money, which is fine, but just to let you know that, like, someone's using their luskite chunk or something.
[00:31:48] Speaker D: Hypothetically, how much teleportation cost us?
[00:31:56] Speaker C: Oh, that too.
[00:31:59] Speaker B: We could steal a skyship.
[00:32:00] Speaker C: Can we steal a Skyship, please?
[00:32:05] Speaker A: Wait, but Melon was looking at getting a scroll. You could copy that into your wizard book, right? Which would mean we could use it multiple times.
[00:32:13] Speaker D: Technically, no, because I am not a higher enough level wizard.
[00:32:19] Speaker A: I don't know how wizards work.
[00:32:21] Speaker D: I am a high enough level sorcerer that I could get teleportation circle. And I could just learn that if we had the time. We don't have the time for Melwyn to learn a spell, unfortunately. But because I have fewer wizard levels, I can only cast wizard spells up to a certain level, which for Melwyn is like two at the moment.
[00:32:45] Speaker A: Okay.
[00:32:47] Speaker B: With Myla's keen mind, which she. I know it's like a month or whatever, but would she know of a teleportation circle that's like, in the Institute? I know it's burned down. I get it. I just feel like a teleportation circle is made of magic and therefore maybe withstood something. And also would be significantly cheaper. Easier to Find than pure teleportation.
[00:33:13] Speaker C: I'll throw this out to you.
I like the idea. I'm gonna remind you guys because this was forever ago, so I do not expect you to remember it when you were in the university in wherever the hell city we were.
You know, with the past with the Olive Garden elf.
Oh yeah, yeah.
And the whole. The whole like, Dean situation. You found a piece of paper that has a teleportation thing on it.
[00:33:49] Speaker B: So.
[00:33:49] Speaker C: So it was like a portable teleport circle. So you could teleport from that circle to anywhere. The problem is that the paper will get left behind. So in theory, it's a one time use thing. Unless you leave somebody behind to like pick. To like fold the paper back up and take it with them.
[00:34:07] Speaker D: Oh, yeah.
No, I'm kidding.
[00:34:10] Speaker A: We could leave Ari here to rest secondarily.
[00:34:14] Speaker C: We can also talk about.
We can also talk about trying to find the teleportation circle that is definitely at the institute. You're right. It would probably be collapsed in on. Right? There's probably not an active fire burning because it's been months at this point, but it's probably. You're probably gonna take some damage from being shunted into a spot with stuff in it, but it's definitely there.
[00:34:39] Speaker D: That'd be so fucking impressive if that fire was still going.
[00:34:43] Speaker C: Yeah, no, it's stunning. Does that. Does that answer the question?
[00:34:48] Speaker A: I think we could leave Nadia behind with the circle. The paper. Circle, circle, paper.
[00:34:54] Speaker D: I'm scared to leave either of the girls behind because Ari's Ari, she's baby. And Nadia's literally being targeted. So I jokingly said it. I would sooner leave yarn behind than I would leave one of the two girls.
[00:35:12] Speaker A: That's so fair.
[00:35:13] Speaker E: There's also the problem of how do we get from the institute over to where Erendrill is or wherever we need to go next.
[00:35:22] Speaker B: So we steal a Skyship?
[00:35:25] Speaker E: I. I think that's the practical answer.
[00:35:30] Speaker D: We might have enough money or steal.
[00:35:32] Speaker E: Or commission or buy or whatever.
[00:35:34] Speaker C: I say you could. You could get a trip like charter Charter. Yeah.
[00:35:38] Speaker E: That's a better word than commission.
[00:35:40] Speaker D: Okay, let's find out. Because if we can just buy our own fucking Skyship, that eliminates so many problems for us.
[00:35:46] Speaker C: You can't. You can't buy your own Skyship. I will tell you that now.
[00:35:50] Speaker D: Way too fucking.
[00:35:52] Speaker B: You would also need like a crew and like people who know how to like. Yeah, it would be.
[00:35:57] Speaker D: Not if we get like a little one. We could fucking one piece this shit. They had a Boat. That was like a 10 by 10.
[00:36:03] Speaker C: Space at the beginning inside the. The skyship Prius.
[00:36:08] Speaker B: How much. How much magic do I have to eat to be able to just make a spell? Jamming helm.
It's only two levels above what I could cast.
[00:36:18] Speaker C: You can chart. You can. You can charter a private like flight. That happens constantly. Especially for rich people. You can do that or you can steal one.
[00:36:30] Speaker D: Or didn't you steal one with like only three of you? It's possible.
[00:36:35] Speaker C: Yeah.
[00:36:35] Speaker B: I feel like we should just steal one. The government sucks anyways. Or maybe we could be like we're gonna. I don't know, save your asses from these stupid purple magic bitches.
[00:36:48] Speaker D: Like oh wait, that's a good. Wait can we use IDs military connections to get us a skyship? Hold on.
[00:36:56] Speaker C: You could probably use them to at least get a cheaper one.
[00:37:00] Speaker A: That's a good idea. Yeah.
[00:37:02] Speaker F: Oh, we could see if the organist can also vouch for us. That might help.
[00:37:06] Speaker E: I don't know that the. Does the arcanist have connections like that?
[00:37:10] Speaker D: I don't fucking know. But she's powerful as shit. That has to mean something in the city.
[00:37:17] Speaker C: She's. I mean she. She is power like politically involved in the way that like it's hard to ignore somebody who is like exactly. Very magically powerful. However, she does not participate in politics like directly very often. Let's just pay for something. You're good with people.
[00:37:35] Speaker F: Use your people skills.
[00:37:37] Speaker B: Let's just pay for a private boat.
Let's just. Let's just pay for it.
[00:37:43] Speaker E: Let's just. We're not gonna spend any money.
[00:37:48] Speaker F: Use your people skills.
[00:37:50] Speaker A: Do it. Kados is sick deal.
[00:37:52] Speaker C: You can. You can get us. You can roll some charisma if you'd like with advantage because of all your connections.
[00:37:59] Speaker B: But dirty 20 plus 5 flash of genius cost.
[00:38:05] Speaker D: Did you roll 25?
[00:38:07] Speaker E: I did. I rolled a natural 11 and a natural 12.
[00:38:10] Speaker C: I'm going to say that you take a day so that you can sending stone. Because that's actually the fastest way to try to contact anybody is if you like wait till the next morning for your sending stones to re. Re up.
[00:38:24] Speaker D: But everyone gets more soup.
[00:38:27] Speaker C: They.
They say that they will like the military will charter the ship for you. It's still gonna cost basically what it costs to like have like power the ship.
If you want them to go there, stay, stay there and like leave with you guys. It's like 200 gold for the.
[00:38:49] Speaker B: The group fund has 124. I think we should spend all of that, and then we can split the rest.
[00:38:56] Speaker D: I have 30 platinum group fund gone. So I have at least.
Yeah, group fund, I think.
[00:39:06] Speaker A: And in case you take more wizard levels, I know we only have, like, one Ish. Maybe level up left.
[00:39:12] Speaker D: I'm not very likely to simply just because I'm trying to get Melwyn fifth level spells at the moment.
[00:39:17] Speaker A: Gotcha. Gotcha. I was just gonna say if you want to hang on to your little nest egg that you're building there. Bird pun intended.
[00:39:24] Speaker B: So we just need 75 gold.
I'm contributing group fund 124. And then we need 70, and then I can do a gold to 175. And then I can spend more and we can all like, I don't care. 75 gold is what we need.
[00:39:38] Speaker A: I'll donate. Put in 2020 also.
[00:39:43] Speaker B: I can do 25.
[00:39:47] Speaker D: My brain is melting. Math help.
[00:39:49] Speaker B: We need 30 more gold.
[00:39:51] Speaker D: Oh, I'll put 3 platinum in then. Done.
[00:39:54] Speaker A: Cool. Thank you, wealthy Melwyn.
[00:39:57] Speaker E: Boat go.
[00:39:58] Speaker D: Why do I have so much money? It's not just from her healing people.
[00:40:03] Speaker B: Boat go.
[00:40:04] Speaker C: Great.
[00:40:05] Speaker D: Yeah.
[00:40:05] Speaker C: You guys get a skyship that comes to you and then takes you to the capital city of Gosnesh and does, like, a little, like, a small restock of just food and stuff because they're not entirely sure how long you guys are going to be. So they pack for a couple extra days, and then they'll take you out to basically wherever in the base of the mountains you want. I think this is the most legitimate.
[00:40:31] Speaker D: Way we've ever traveled.
[00:40:35] Speaker A: We've paid our fare.
[00:40:36] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:40:36] Speaker C: Nadia looks uncomfortable.
[00:40:38] Speaker F: But, like, we've never tried. Like, usually we kind of work it off, I guess.
[00:40:44] Speaker B: I mean, if we need more money. My dad owns a bank, so.
Yep.
[00:40:48] Speaker F: What?
Oh, Myla, you like rich rich?
[00:40:53] Speaker B: I mean, I wouldn't call ourselves rich.
[00:40:57] Speaker F: So the answer to that was yes, then.
And this never came up before. Why?
[00:41:04] Speaker B: Nobody asked.
[00:41:05] Speaker F: So all the time that we've been.
[00:41:08] Speaker B: Struggling with money, I don't have the money. My parents and I don't really talk because they sent me to a school, and then I ran away and became a criminal.
[00:41:17] Speaker F: So, you know, that is. That's.
[00:41:20] Speaker D: That makes sense.
[00:41:23] Speaker B: Myla goes back to writing notes in her book.
[00:41:26] Speaker A: You earlier asked for, like, a vibe check, Jay, and I don't want that to go unanswered.
[00:41:32] Speaker C: Please, Please.
[00:41:35] Speaker A: Odin is doing her regular skyship air travel things. She's doing a lot of walking around the decks and just kind of like, fidgety energy. Girl that she Is.
I think she is kind of keeping to herself a little more.
Yeah, she's thinking a lot. Takes a lot of work for her.
[00:42:02] Speaker E: ID wants to figure out wombo combos with people.
So in between this recording and the next one, I want to brainstorm with my buddies about how we can, like, tag team move. What is that called in wrestling, Jay?
[00:42:18] Speaker B: Yeah, yeah, they're tag teams.
[00:42:20] Speaker E: They're tag teams.
[00:42:21] Speaker D: Yeah.
[00:42:22] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:42:24] Speaker E: I want to tag team move with people.
[00:42:26] Speaker D: Do you still have that. Do you still have that shield with the battery in it?
[00:42:29] Speaker A: Baha that we'll discuss.
[00:42:34] Speaker D: No, we theory crafted something. We just never actually really tried it outside of an RP moment.
[00:42:42] Speaker C: Nadia's probably getting back energy and retraining with ID because now she's got no magic. So now she's just gonna be a straight up rogue.
So she's, like, practicing, like, sparring, essentially, which it I'm sure is cool with.
[00:43:06] Speaker D: Melanie can give her some of her daggers because she has, like, four.
[00:43:12] Speaker C: Okay. Yeah.
[00:43:14] Speaker D: I don't know how many she wants, but have.
[00:43:18] Speaker C: Yeah, she great.
[00:43:21] Speaker D: Have. Have at least.
[00:43:23] Speaker C: She's getting pretty good at throwing them. But one government guy yells at her because she, like, sticks it in the wood in, like, the below deck. He's like, hey, sorry, Those are the vibes.
[00:43:36] Speaker A: Oh, wait, Melon vibes?
[00:43:38] Speaker B: Yeah. What are melon vibes?
[00:43:39] Speaker A: Donating knives.
[00:43:42] Speaker C: Other than donate knives.
[00:43:44] Speaker D: Yeah, that's it. That's all the vibes that you get. No, I'm kidding.
I think Melon's just kind of. Sorry, I'm looking at what she has.
I think melon also kind of takes the time to sit down with her spellbook and practice drawing in energy to make conduits. Maybe as we're traveling, because she's trying not to think too much, because she does have hope, right? That is one of the emotions that she currently has.
So part of her is just like, oh, you know, I'm getting answers. That's great.
At the same time, she also has fear, right? So, like, the hope, the fear, and the curiosity are kind of all clashing at the moment. And so she's just like, I'm gonna do option D and not think about any of that right now.
So I think she parks herself in a spot where she can see, like, a nice pretty view. If she looks up and she's got her book open. And periodically you can see, like, little bits of magic just kind of swirling around her while she practices.
[00:44:59] Speaker B: While we are on the boat, the airship, I think Myla sort of sees everybody going off in their own corners for the most part. And she's like, what the. What the. What the fuck is going on?
And so she takes all of her notes, and she goes and she sits in front of Ari, and she's like, I thought we were all gonna figure this out because this is what we sort of talked about. Anyways, here's what I have. And she will hand Ari the pages that she stole. I have them all memorized, so I don't need them anymore.
And then she will hand her some notes, notes of stuff that she learned. She's gonna. She's. And basically this time, like, I don't want to say, unfortunately, I don't think it's in a way that's, like, caring or careful, but more just, like, basic utility. And like you said, you had an issue with this, and I know how to fix it, so I'm going to help you do it. Of just like, this is how you control different areas of different colors of magic. Here's how you tug on certain ones for certain things, and you leave some aside for the.
This is how you channel and redistribute magic. And I think one of the things that she really emphasizes is that creating and destroying things in magic is very, very difficult because you are creating and destroying magic itself. The easiest, best, and simplest way to do things is to take the magic you already have and redirect it and reconduate it into other things to make what you want to happen happen, using the stuff that's already there as, like, circuitry almost. And I think that she literally is just like, I understand that you're not comfortable with this. I hear that. I accept that. I was 13 when I went to school for the first time, so I get it. But running away and shying away from it is not going to do anything. It's going to make it more dangerous. So please learn. Read the notes, try small things, and if you need help, you can ask somebody for help. We're not going to ignore this. This is a powerful tool that we all have at our disposal that you have at your disposal. And I know that that's intimidating, and I know that that's frustrating, but it's not going to do anything if we keep running away from the power that we have. So use it.
[00:47:16] Speaker C: Okay.
[00:47:17] Speaker B: You're very smart and very comfortable.
[00:47:19] Speaker C: She spends a lot of her time reading and trying, like, smaller spells and things, but she seems to be picking it up really quickly. Like, and it's likely not just her. Right? Like, it's. It's like previous knowledge that she doesn't really realize that she's tapping into. But it's, it's definitely not like 100%, just Ari.
[00:47:42] Speaker B: Yeah, I think that after she like sees that Ari's like reading and practicing these things, like her shoulders like slack a little bit and her eyes like unwiden a little bit and she takes like a deep breath. Unheard of, I know, but it's almost like the stuff that was bottled up and built ing and building had that almost like exhaust.
[00:48:07] Speaker C: Okay, awesome. You guys fly around sort of the base of the mountains looking for anything.
And one of the navigator spots a like cave opening sort of at the bases and asks if that's what you guys are looking for. It is the only thing currently that's being seen, so that seems likely they touch down nearby.
Hey everyone, this is editing Future Anastasia. Unfortunately some of my ending audio got cut out, so I will try to describe to you again what they saw. So as the airship touches down, they aren't parked too close, but they can see a sort of semicircle of stones with lower stones at the front towards higher stones in the back and a very like man made cave opening right at the back center of this sort of semicircle at the base of the mountains. Few trees, more rocks than trees. And then they also saw some clay golems that seem to have been made by some kind of alchemist. So you can hear their reactions to those.
[00:49:28] Speaker B: Cool.
I was about to say, I think as we walk up, Myla looks at it like the way that the guys in Queer Eye walk into a house of their new person and they're like, oh.
[00:49:40] Speaker A: Oh my gosh.
[00:49:45] Speaker B: Like that's cute.
[00:49:47] Speaker A: Fighting something. I'm so excited to plan a Wombo combo.
[00:49:54] Speaker B: Combo.
[00:49:55] Speaker C: And there you have it. I'm really sorry that some of the audio got cut out. We also for some reason don't have our goodbyes. So you'll just hear it from me. Thanks for listening everyone. Goodbye.
