[00:00:14] Speaker A: I forgot to open my soda. It's fine. [00:00:18] Speaker B: Witch. [00:00:19] Speaker A: I did it. I did it. [00:00:20] Speaker B: She's a witch. [00:00:22] Speaker C: Don't call people that. [00:00:25] Speaker A: Karma's a witch. [00:00:27] Speaker B: I'm making the meme. [00:00:29] Speaker D: No, you're not supposed to call them a bitch, but you can call them a witch. [00:00:32] Speaker A: I didn't call her a bitch. [00:00:34] Speaker E: Well, I was gonna say. [00:00:34] Speaker D: You were gonna. [00:00:35] Speaker E: You could call her a bitch instead. [00:00:37] Speaker B: But no, I would never call Bestie J a bitch. [00:00:43] Speaker E: She's a fabulous bitch. I don't know what the fuck you're talking about. [00:00:47] Speaker D: It's a regional difference in the US and depends the co. [00:00:52] Speaker C: The closer you get to Salem, the more appropriate bitches and the farther you are away, the more appropriate witches. [00:00:59] Speaker A: That's insane. [00:01:00] Speaker B: Concentric rings. [00:01:03] Speaker E: Concentric rings of acceptable bitch policy. [00:01:06] Speaker A: Are you eating a burger? What is that? [00:01:09] Speaker B: Where's your burger from? [00:01:10] Speaker A: From where my brother made up. [00:01:12] Speaker C: Oh, yeah. [00:01:15] Speaker B: Oh, my gosh. [00:01:16] Speaker A: A little bit cold. [00:01:17] Speaker B: I should order it. [00:01:17] Speaker E: I did just, like kind of sit here and disassociate until I hopped on and then I continued to disassoci. And then I remembered it was sitting in my dice tray. [00:01:26] Speaker B: In the dice tray. [00:01:28] Speaker D: On a plate. In it. [00:01:31] Speaker E: On a plate. But yes, in the dice tray. [00:01:34] Speaker A: I'm gonna order a burger. So that way, when we record the next episode, I will have the burger. [00:01:41] Speaker C: Whoa. [00:01:42] Speaker B: Pass the burger. Whoa. Ben, you know what we gotta do next Wednesday or Thursday? [00:01:47] Speaker C: Okay. [00:01:48] Speaker E: I'll just hand it off and Jay. [00:01:49] Speaker B: Can grab it, like coordinate the discord windows and whatever. [00:01:54] Speaker A: That's gonna be super compelling in our audio based medium. [00:01:59] Speaker B: Oh, fun. [00:02:00] Speaker D: Don't worry about it. [00:02:02] Speaker A: See you next week. [00:02:03] Speaker D: We have to wait a whole week for burger content? [00:02:06] Speaker A: We don't. You do. How does it feel to suck? [00:02:11] Speaker C: Whoa. [00:02:13] Speaker B: Sorry. [00:02:13] Speaker A: I'm feeling. I was gone for a few episodes and now I'm feeling very hostile energy. [00:02:18] Speaker D: Maybe we'll get more listeners if we're like, hey, stop listening to this. I not joking. [00:02:23] Speaker B: It's like the restaurant. Like, part of the appeal is that they're mean to you. I couldn't go there. I think it would hurt my feelings too much. [00:02:31] Speaker E: I don't know. A lot of people are into a lot of things. [00:02:34] Speaker B: Yeah, yeah. Not double El Diablo. [00:02:38] Speaker C: What are you doing? [00:02:39] Speaker A: I don't know. [00:02:40] Speaker B: Casting a spell. [00:02:42] Speaker C: Which burger spell? [00:02:45] Speaker A: Speaking of casting, Go by doordasher welcome to Spells and Whistles, a D&D5E podcast thanks to the inked Expanse. We are witches and bitches here. [00:02:56] Speaker B: I think that might be my favorite segue. We've ever had. [00:03:02] Speaker E: No, it was fucking burger spell that got me. [00:03:06] Speaker D: Of all things, how one of our next MSM things is gonna be burger Witch bitch. [00:03:13] Speaker B: There is a game I've played called Dish Pit Witches where your and you work in a. Like, in a restaurant, and you have to deal with the wackiness that ensues from being a witch working at a restaurant. Great game, Very fun. [00:03:25] Speaker A: We need to make our own one page ttrpg where the two stats are witch and bitch. [00:03:30] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:03:31] Speaker C: Hell yeah. [00:03:32] Speaker E: We need to make. [00:03:32] Speaker B: We need to. [00:03:33] Speaker E: And you get a serious goose and unserious goose one first, though. [00:03:36] Speaker B: That's true. [00:03:37] Speaker A: Very true, Very true. [00:03:38] Speaker D: The next stat is burger. You have a secret third stat called burger. [00:03:45] Speaker C: You could call it mean gorals. [00:03:49] Speaker A: What? [00:03:49] Speaker C: Cause it's witch and bitch. You can call it mean gorals. [00:03:54] Speaker B: I was trying to think of how that tied into a burger. [00:03:56] Speaker D: Hang on. [00:03:56] Speaker E: Are we on this? [00:03:57] Speaker C: No, that's not a burger thing. [00:03:58] Speaker A: Are we on to something? Write it down. Write it down. [00:04:03] Speaker D: I'm reining this in. Okay. All right. [00:04:05] Speaker A: This is fun. You're reigning this in. I did the transition, then it unrained. [00:04:10] Speaker B: And now you're talking about. [00:04:15] Speaker D: All right, so it has been a while for us and for you guys, so we'll catch up on a few threads. Last time, everyone found arcanist Willow, who helped Nadia disconnect from her mother's magic and promptly then passed out. Nadia, not Arcanist Willow. Distinction. ID went to go watch the teleportation circle while Melwyn was talking to arcanist Willow and asked more questions about the big spell that she did and learned a cool a few cool things. While ID was watching the teleportation circle, a created came through the circle. So ID grabbed it and then was like, hey, puppet, you want this body? And the puppet was like, I don't know, man. It's kind of under the thrall of a guy. So then Auden was like, kids these days. Okay, here's my antidote. Then I guess it's kind of under the. So then the puppet was like, hell yeah. Love it. And then. And then just promptly left, which triggered Myla to turn back into human form. Because puppet got what it wanted, Myla is also still unconscious at this point in time. Of course, the crew still wants to fight Erendrill, but ID and Ari's heart conditions are also, like, not going away, so they might have to deal with that. Melwyn still has some emotions in a bag. Erendrill and his army are starting to make like the Global News. Which kind of leaves you guys to decide what you're gonna do next. So before we actually get into the game game, let's do quick recap of a level up. You guys leveled to level 10. Ben, will you start? [00:06:11] Speaker C: Yippee. I am now it. Well, me. Not me. It is now a level 10 paladin. Level 10 paladins get a. A different aura. It's called aura of courage. Myself and Friendly creatures within 10ft of me can't be frightened while I am conscious, which is pretty great. No more scary. I got 13 more hit points, which puts me up to 115 hit points. [00:06:41] Speaker D: Beefy. Yeah, I got to hit you guys harder. [00:06:44] Speaker E: None of that. [00:06:45] Speaker B: No, that's okay. [00:06:49] Speaker D: No, yeah, yeah. [00:06:52] Speaker E: Just kill him extra hard. That's all you need to do. [00:06:55] Speaker D: How about you, Gris? [00:06:56] Speaker B: Oh God. [00:06:58] Speaker E: Mel. Which campaign in the Melwyn? [00:07:00] Speaker B: Yeah, yeah, that one. [00:07:02] Speaker D: Jesus. [00:07:04] Speaker E: Melwyn took another level in Sorcerer, so she's now Sorcerer Level 8. Which means I got a feat and I took Warcaster, which means that I. No, I did not take a feat. [00:07:15] Speaker B: I lied. [00:07:16] Speaker E: I did a whole thing where I was going back and forth between taking a feat and then I ultimately decided to just take an ASI because I'm a sorcerer and I needed more charisma. I also rolled a grand total of three on my hit die. So pairing that with my constitution modifier, I'm now at a healthy 62 hit points. D6 everybody. [00:07:39] Speaker D: You gotta love it. [00:07:41] Speaker E: Imma popcorn it to Jay. [00:07:43] Speaker A: Hi, I'm jay. I play Myla5.5 based in the inked expanse. She is. No. [00:07:53] Speaker D: Did you say her height? [00:07:55] Speaker A: Yeah, I slated did it. [00:07:57] Speaker E: What kind of anime ass intro. [00:07:59] Speaker D: I'm Lila. [00:08:01] Speaker A: I'm five and I'm 56. [00:08:02] Speaker C: I'm Lila. [00:08:05] Speaker B: Blue hair. [00:08:08] Speaker A: Blue hair, blue eyes. Willing to dye my hair. Anyways, I gained a level. [00:08:16] Speaker D: What's your monologue? What's the title of your monologue? [00:08:19] Speaker A: The title of my monologue is Worlds of the Ink Expanse. [00:08:25] Speaker C: I'll make another robot. [00:08:34] Speaker A: So hard. [00:08:35] Speaker E: We're not helping. [00:08:36] Speaker B: I'm so sorry. [00:08:38] Speaker A: I gained another level in Artificer, making me level nine in Artificer and one in Rogue, which means I now get third level spells. Wahoo. I gained some spells that are fun, including but not limited to the. The ability to cast the new spell that Anastasia made where I get to eat magic. [00:08:58] Speaker D: Wait, could you not cast it before? [00:09:01] Speaker A: No. That's why I took a level in Artificer, because I didn't have third level spells. I also get wind wall And Fireball, which is fun. Oh, I also got the speech. [00:09:15] Speaker D: Continue. [00:09:16] Speaker B: I forgot I get spells. [00:09:17] Speaker A: It's okay. I. I also. It's fine. I also got a ninth level feature called explosive cannon, which means that every eldritch cannon I make is more destructive. So my damage rolls are now 1d8 more. And I can also command my cannon to detonate when I'm within 60ft of it. Doing so destroys the cannon and forces each creature within within 20ft to make a Dex dirty saving throw against spell to save DC taking 3D8 force damage on a failed save for half as much. [00:09:46] Speaker B: Wow. [00:09:48] Speaker D: Honestly, Otter. [00:09:49] Speaker A: Isaac. [00:09:50] Speaker C: Self destruct button. [00:09:53] Speaker A: Yeah. Self destruct. So now I get to kill my things. Not Anastasia. [00:09:56] Speaker D: Yeah. [00:09:57] Speaker B: I choose my own destiny. [00:10:00] Speaker A: I am the commander of my own fate. Meg, go. [00:10:03] Speaker B: Well, I'm Meg. I play Auden. I should probably do that. I gained 14 more hit points. Hooray. I have 127 hit points now, so I feel big and strong. One word. Look it up in the dictionary. You'll find a picture of Auden. I also gained a new thing called infectious fury at 10th level. If I hit someone with my teeth or my claws when I'm in my raged out form, I can either make someone the thing that I hit also attack something else, or I can make it take 2d12 psychic damage. Because I'm like, yeah, get mad with me kind of thing. Which is cool. [00:10:47] Speaker C: Emotional rabies. [00:10:49] Speaker B: Yeah, pretty much emotional. [00:10:53] Speaker A: Title of the episode. [00:10:57] Speaker E: Thanks. I hate it. [00:10:59] Speaker C: That's frothing at the mouth, but in a different way. [00:11:03] Speaker E: Oh my God. [00:11:04] Speaker D: I'm going to take away Ben's level up. I. [00:11:09] Speaker E: No, that's fair actually. [00:11:11] Speaker D: What? [00:11:12] Speaker C: Why are you backing her up? [00:11:16] Speaker A: Is. [00:11:16] Speaker E: It's funny. [00:11:17] Speaker D: Yeah. It's supposed to be players versus dm, obviously. Obviously. All right, so you guys are in the spots where we ended the last session, which I know was so long ago, but everybody is in this like teleportation right outside this teleportation circle room. Because Melwyn, I think did go meet up with everybody and Auden had. Auden had taken Nadia with. Myla is unconscious. Nadia is not. But she's not looking awesome. She's just really out of it. Who. Where is Violet? [00:11:53] Speaker E: Do we have her? [00:11:54] Speaker B: I've got her. [00:11:55] Speaker A: Okay. [00:11:56] Speaker D: She's. Yeah, she's like in the room with. In the hallway with you guys because I think Auden. Are you talking about Myla or Nadia? [00:12:05] Speaker E: Myla, the. The not. [00:12:06] Speaker D: Yeah. Yeah. Mila was puppet and then Auden put her on the Ground. And now she just turned back into human. [00:12:13] Speaker C: Hey Mila. Welcome back. [00:12:18] Speaker A: Am I still on? I think I'm still unconscious. [00:12:21] Speaker D: You can't you just. [00:12:27] Speaker E: Smack the shit out of her? [00:12:28] Speaker A: I think Myla is someone like shaking Myla awake or like I don't. I'm gonna be completely real. I think Myla might need like a long rest. Like I don't think that like she like at least from my point of view, like I feel like that was probably a lot for a mortal to go through. So I genuinely feel like might need at least a short rest or like a long rest before she's like awake. Which I know isn't super fun for like me coming back top of episode. But like genuinely, I think that she needs like a second to like. [00:13:04] Speaker C: What if I cast haste on you and speed up your showgrass? [00:13:09] Speaker A: That's awful. [00:13:11] Speaker C: Wake up. Adrenaline. Go. [00:13:12] Speaker E: It's the horse. [00:13:14] Speaker A: Hey. [00:13:14] Speaker B: She was just a puppet. Lay off. [00:13:16] Speaker E: Okay, fine. May I please make a medicine check to make sure that Myla has had no adverse side effects from this? I did not know how to phrase that as Melwyn in any way, shape or form. [00:13:34] Speaker A: I also know. [00:13:34] Speaker D: Yeah. Or Arcana would work too. [00:13:37] Speaker E: Oh yay. [00:13:37] Speaker A: Id just put like. I just. I just re. Listened to the last episode. Id just put in like five points of lay on hands to remove disease or poison as well. So if that affects anything. [00:13:51] Speaker E: The B dice is smiling at me. That's a natural 20 for a 28. [00:13:55] Speaker D: Woohoo. [00:13:57] Speaker E: This is a blessed die. [00:13:59] Speaker D: Other than extreme fatigue and like probably mild inability to do anything functionally helpful. That would be like mechanical in combat. As in like you want her to cast spells? She might need a. She might need a while before. Okay, but I raised you. [00:14:20] Speaker E: What if we use Myla as a conduit? No, I'm kidding. [00:14:23] Speaker B: For what? [00:14:25] Speaker D: You just like raise her arm up. [00:14:27] Speaker A: And point it at somebody? Let's just casually add to her trauma. [00:14:34] Speaker D: But no, she's not like. It's not like part of her is still puppet or anything. There doesn't seem to be any long term effects, just things that need recovery. [00:14:46] Speaker E: Alright then. ID or Arden. Actually both of you are very strong. We should probably head back to the inn so Myla can rest. I don't think she's gonna wake up anytime soon. So you can stop smacking her now and Melon's gonna like shove it a little bit. [00:15:04] Speaker C: Yeah, yeah, you got it. Alden, can you pick her up? [00:15:09] Speaker B: Mm. And she will very carefully just make sure that like she's not like, jostling her around too much. [00:15:17] Speaker D: Fireman Carrie. [00:15:19] Speaker B: Yeah, probably. That's what she knows for sure. [00:15:22] Speaker D: Nadia needs the assist, so she kind of really awkwardly, like, grabs ID's shoulder because Auden's now busy carrying Myl. She can walk, but, like, needs something stabilizing. Okay, so you guys head back to the inn. No problem. Not too far of a walk or anything. You still have your room from this last few weeks and it is looking the same as you left it. [00:15:49] Speaker B: Yeah. I think Audyn will just kind of make sure that Myla gets somewhere that's quiet and away from, like, heavy traffic area, like the living room where it fell asleep in front of the door, and will kind of set her down, I don't know, tuck her in as best as she can and just kind of. I think she'll, like, sit down for a little bit and be like, is that weird? I don't know. And then she'll stand up and then kind of walk out for a little bit and then go back and then sit down. And eventually I think she starts just kind of shuffling through, like, the various notes and stuff that Myla left from before she was a doll. It's all just the survey. And Yeah, I think she ends up a lot on, like, the survey and starts just kind of like reading over some of, like, if any responses. Just kind of reading over this. [00:16:41] Speaker D: Yeah, there's not very many. There's stars. [00:16:45] Speaker A: Can I. Can I read you guys the questions that I was thinking of putting on the surveys, please? Oh, God. There's five questions for. For, you know, just to keep it short. One, what is the dictionary definition of a best friend? Two, what is your personal definition of a best friend and how does it differ from the answer above? Three, who do you consider to be your best friend? Also, best friend is all in quotes. And how do you. How did you meet them? Number four. What feelings and emotions go through your head when you think of your best friend? Number five, do you and your best friend have any secondary labels such as lovers, roommates, siblings, etcetera, etcetera. [00:17:18] Speaker E: No. [00:17:18] Speaker D: I remember you reading these to us because. Because all of us had really funny. [00:17:23] Speaker E: Responses because our characters don't know. [00:17:27] Speaker D: Yeah, you've only got two responses, and it was two people who were best friends who filled it out together. Yeah, it's cute. They're very, like. I mean, they're very thorough answers, so at least there's that. But they both are a little bit similar because they are best friends and hopefully they'd have similar views on that, so. And then a lot of blank ones. [00:17:57] Speaker B: I think she'll start doodling on one of the blank ones. [00:18:00] Speaker E: Melon's just gonna play doctor for everybody, I guess, make sure everybody eats. Make sure that, you know, people actually go to bed eventually, because there's not much we can do for Myla or Nadia at the moment. [00:18:18] Speaker C: Great. [00:18:19] Speaker B: I think as Melwyn's in there, Arden's gonna say, how did you talk with. With the. The dean? Go. [00:18:28] Speaker E: Oh, right. Grace forgot that she did that, even though Anastasia said it five minutes ago. Hi. I'm really good at this, guys. It went fine. It was not both very helpful and very informative and also not as helpful and informative as I was hoping it was gonna be. But you know how she put all the things in the ground? [00:18:49] Speaker B: Yeah, that was cool. [00:18:51] Speaker E: Yeah, she taught me how to make those, basically, so. [00:18:53] Speaker B: Oh. [00:18:55] Speaker E: Could be helpful. [00:18:57] Speaker B: I mean, if it's for severing ties and stuff. [00:19:03] Speaker E: Yeah. She said she couldn't teach. She couldn't teach me that because she said it takes years to learn, which is really inconvenient, actually. [00:19:11] Speaker B: But you know how to stick stuff in the ground now, so that's. That's a start. [00:19:15] Speaker E: Yeah, I suppose. I also copied down the Grace is. Forget the thing, the big thing that she drew. [00:19:26] Speaker A: The teleportation circle? [00:19:28] Speaker D: No, no, the, like, the, like, glyph that she wrote. [00:19:31] Speaker A: The glyph. The glyph. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. [00:19:33] Speaker D: In doing this huge ritual. Yeah. [00:19:36] Speaker E: You know, maybe Melwyn's sleepy and she does just say the big magic thing that she drew on the ground so that we have that. Whether or not we can use it is entirely a different issue aid. Why are you still on the floor? [00:19:56] Speaker C: I'm tired. [00:19:59] Speaker E: It was more effort to go lie down on the floor than it was to the bed that's, like, right next to you right now. [00:20:06] Speaker C: Armor's still on. Armor's not allowed in bed. [00:20:10] Speaker E: Armor's very much allowed in bed. You're just being lazy. [00:20:15] Speaker C: Yeah, both, I think, are true. He starts, like, very slowly and laboriously, like, undoing one class, and then just lays there, then undoes another clasp, and he just lays there. [00:20:27] Speaker E: We didn't even fight it. Well, I guess you two did. Actually, never mind. [00:20:32] Speaker C: Yeah, it wasn't that. [00:20:34] Speaker D: Yeah. Nadia's crashed on the couch next to him, I think. Right. Like, he was on the floor and Nadia's on the couch, literally just kind of trying to sleep. [00:20:42] Speaker B: Yeah. I think Auden's content to just kind of wait and watch over and just Kind of tapping her feet, doodling. Just trying to keep herself busy. [00:20:54] Speaker D: Yeah, you guys can take a long rest for sure. If you want to take. Milo watches, that's. You can do that too. Fully up to you guys. It is the next morning. It is the next morning. Everyone has taken a long rest. Myla, I think you're still just, like, feeling it a little bit. Probably just headachy, but you aren't. Like, there's no mechanical difference to your character sheet or your ability level. But it's not fun. Being in a void space for, like, multiple days on end makes it feel like everything feels heavy again. You don't realize how, like, heavy it is to carry, like, your upper body and your head and everything and steps and, like, similar to when astronauts come back from the space station and, you know, they just have to readjust for a little while. Not to mention, like, it is so much louder here and visually assaulting. Yeah, just kind of a lot. [00:22:01] Speaker A: I think that Milo wakes up and she, like, blinks a second, and I think that she, like, sort of, like, stretches her fingers a little bit and is like, okay. It does, like, a little, like, check. Like, a physical check in. Almost, like, just, like, stretches her fingers, like, blinks her eyes, like, really tight and, like, scrunches her nose a little bit and just, like, wiggles her feet a little bit. And she sort of, like, leans up a little bit. I think she tries to sit up, but she can't. So she's just sort of propped on her, like, arm for a second. And I think that she notices Auden there and is like, this is really weird. Deja vu. [00:22:46] Speaker B: Deja vu. Also, you're back. [00:22:51] Speaker A: Yeah. Because you guys did. [00:22:52] Speaker B: Are you feeling okay? Do you need any water? I have water. She's, like, has a pitcher, like, with her, like, ready to go. [00:23:02] Speaker A: If you want to give me water, I will drink the water. [00:23:06] Speaker B: Yes. She'll figure out where she set her cup. It's full of discarded pencils and charcoal sticks from spent drawings. And she'll kind of wipe it out with her shirt a little bit before pouring some water in and passing it over. [00:23:23] Speaker A: You know what deja vu means, right? [00:23:26] Speaker B: Like, when you feel like something is familiar, but it's not. But it is. [00:23:32] Speaker A: Yeah. This is exactly what happened with the Mind Flayer, you know? [00:23:35] Speaker D: Like, I was like, oh, my God. [00:23:37] Speaker B: Nothing like that happened, okay? [00:23:41] Speaker A: Yes, I know, because I saw it. [00:23:43] Speaker B: Nobody's dead. [00:23:44] Speaker A: I saw it. [00:23:45] Speaker B: You could see? [00:23:46] Speaker A: Yes, I could see. [00:23:48] Speaker B: Sorry it took so long. [00:23:50] Speaker A: I'm sorry it happened. I Don't know really what happened. I mean I do kind of know now from the bits and pieces. Sometimes it was kind of weird. It felt like it wasn't like I wasn't real. And sometimes it felt very real. So it was kind of strange. [00:24:15] Speaker B: That sounds scary. [00:24:18] Speaker A: I got to do a lot of thinking though, which is always great for me. [00:24:22] Speaker B: Uh huh. [00:24:24] Speaker A: I think that she'll look down and she'll see the doodled survey. What did you draw on it? [00:24:33] Speaker B: I think that she did a little self portrait of herself. She has her hammer. I think she's drawn like little like the party and everything like that. She's got Melwyn with her little horns and she's got ID and he has. It's like the drawing deja vu thing. Like it's like the drawing on the well where ID is there and he's got kind of like angry eyebrows about everything. The like flat line mouth. And then she's got like Myla and Auden and like you know, just drawing the party. I think she has a couple of like really bad drawings of Yaron as well. [00:25:16] Speaker A: She'll point to the picture of ID and say, see, deja vu happened before. [00:25:23] Speaker B: Let's not have it happen again. [00:25:28] Speaker A: I agree. [00:25:32] Speaker B: I think Odin's gonna like stand up. You could see end here and stuff. So you knew that we were really, really worried. [00:25:45] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:25:45] Speaker B: And I really, really missed you. [00:25:50] Speaker A: Yeah, it was. Thank you for. I think that Myla's like. I think that Myla's face is like furrowing but is listening. Like is listening intently but also thinking but is like. Like has been so stuck inside herself for so long that is like is trying to like catch up but wants to hear and listen and respond. And I think that she takes that those words and she hears them and she sits with them and she really like listens to them. And I think that there's a brief second where she says, Can I ask you a question? [00:26:35] Speaker B: Yes. [00:26:36] Speaker A: I have said, I've said before that you make probably the most sense to me. I do still have some confusion and I was just hoping you could clear something up for me. [00:26:48] Speaker B: Sure, if I can. [00:26:52] Speaker A: When we were down with the mind flayers, you said something to the mind flayer. And I was unconscious. So I think it's what you said. But I have really good memory and I know the voice was yours because I could recognize your voice almost anywhere, which you said, I am not a good person. I'm not a bad person. I am just a person trying to survive. And I See that? But it has been proven time and time and again that I am an unreliable source. And yet you still put yourself in danger to help me. So why do you do the things that you do? Because it doesn't make sense to me. [00:27:37] Speaker B: Um. I. I thought where I'm from, that was a very big, pressing issue. It's very dangerous down at the bottom of the ocean. And there's a lot of things that can and will hurt you and eat you and kill you. And so at home, that was. That was it. You survive and you fight tooth and nail, and you do what you need to to survive. And so I thought that that was what I wanted for a really long time. And it's not that I don't want that anymore. Obviously, I want to be alive and stuff, but. But it's different. Surviving and. And living. Living when you're all alone is quite lonely. Just fighting tooth and nail to get by. That's not all that I want to do, you know, and the last couple of months since I've been with you and Ed and Mellie and everything have been hard and scary at times. But I also feel more alive than I think I ever have. More than I did when I was at home, more than I did when I was down in the deep, and more even just being a mercenary. I mean, I went clubbing, and we ate an 11 and a half foot sandwich, and we buy paper and we do things that we don't have to do, but we do it because we're alive and because it's just different. And I don't think it would feel the same to do it without you. [00:29:47] Speaker D: Nadia. I heard you say clubbing and gave, like, a woo from the living room. It's like the tiniest little woo. Cheek. I love that it's really half hearted. [00:29:57] Speaker A: Who told you that you were meant to only survive and not live? Because they are very clearly wrong and not smart. [00:30:05] Speaker B: Just kind of everyone. It's just the culture, I guess. My parents, my leaders, my peers. Do what you have to do to keep the pod safe. And you do what you need to do to. To make sure that nothing happens to anybody else and to keep each other safe. And we do that up here, too, but better. [00:30:48] Speaker A: Myla has been looking, like, very intensely, like, not brow furrowed, but just, like, very, like, concentrated. And I think that she says, I just realized while I was taking a step back, I guess more the passenger seat is the polite way to say it, that we know a lot about ID and we know a lot about Melwyn and We know a lot about me, but we just don't know a lot about you. And if you don't want to talk about it, I get it. There are plenty of things I don't want to talk about either, and I haven't talked about. We cannot experiment without knowing what the control is. [00:31:47] Speaker B: She nods. [00:31:48] Speaker A: And I'm glad that you. I'm glad that you want to be more than that, because it sounds like it was shitty, and I don't like those people, just from what you've said. But where we walk from can sometimes determine how we hold ourselves. And, like, I just don't. You're clearly very different from that, and that's amazing, and it's great that you are different in that way. I'm just concerned that I don't want you to think that you have to just come to us with who you're aiming to be and that, you know, wherever, like, I will still care about everyone, no matter where they come from and what they come from. So if you want to talk about it, you can, um. [00:32:59] Speaker B: Well, say as a sanctuary. So it's a lot more sort of controlled in terms of who comes and who goes and what goes on in there and stuff. My school, or community, whatever you want to call it, have lived there for a really, really long time. And it's beautiful there. There's stone arches that you can swim through, and they have these amazing carvings and sculptures. And it's not all bad, but it kind of takes a lot to be down there. If you're too loud, things can hear you. And if you're moving when you should be still, things will feel it in the water. And we are hunters, but that doesn't mean that we couldn't be hunted. And I tried my best to. To do it and to listen and to do what I needed to do, but I just. I just couldn't do it the way that I needed to. She kind of looks down at her feet, which have been kind of like, alternating back and forth, kind of like bouncing on the ground, and at her fingers, which are kind of like twisting around with, like, her shell necklace or her shark tooth necklace in her lap. It's just. It's always been that way. And, you know, there were things that we. We tried to do, you know, take deep breaths and all that kind of stuff, and it just didn't work. And I got in trouble a lot for it, so I left for a little bit. I went deeper and deeper where it was dark and where it was dangerous, and the deeper you go the higher the pressure, the more it pushes on you and. And squeezes you. And same with knowing there are bigger and better things out there. The pressure builds up, and it sounds bad, but I like that. It's when I feel like it's about to end that I can do things, fester and I'm stronger and. And according to everyone else, I was better. And I stayed down there a long time. And I met somebody there, Nador, who taught me how to do it even when I wasn't in the deep. They lived in a sunken ship. I never saw them until fairly recently, but I was excited because I learned how to do what they wanted me to do. And so I went back and I was excited to show them, but I was coming out of the deep, and I wasn't careful. And there was something that followed me there, and. And it wasn't good. It hurt people, and. And it was all my fault because I hadn't been careful and because I ran away in the first place, and I was so excited. And if I had taken a minute to think about, wouldn't have happened. Nobody died, but they didn't want me back, so I left for good. And it's much better now. And as she kind of says that last piece, a lot of her believes that, but there is kind of a hint of bittersweetness to it in that if things can be good here, why couldn't they have been that way at home, at a place that was supposed to be that way? So that's where I'm walking from, swimming from, I guess. [00:38:14] Speaker A: I learned a lot of things at the Institute, but something that they really taught and showed me was that bad people, or bad tritons, like you might feel like you are sometimes, or whatever, they aren't born that way. They're made by other people's perceptions. That is a fact. Myla is going to fully sit up again. Like, it's kind of like, ugh, I forgot. Her shoulders are stiff, but she reaches to her side and she pulls out the little contraption that is Otter Isaac. And she sort of spawns it. She says, can I show you something? [00:39:00] Speaker B: Of course. [00:39:03] Speaker A: She's going to very gently put her hand on your wrist, and she's gonna put your hand on the back of Otter Isaac. And as you feel it, you can feel the whirring of the mechanics and the arcana underneath it. And it has a very specific tempo, a very specific beat, like a cadence that's almost like a, if you will, the flip flop of sandals. And as she sort of has her hand on your arm and puts your hand there. She says, the Auden that I know that is beyond the depths and the flow state and the anger and the pressure is the Auden that inspires creativity and innovation, which I think makes you a pretty great Triton. So screw what the other people said, because it's not true. That's how they view you. And you can view yourself differently if you want to. [00:40:27] Speaker B: Auden kind of, like, wipes her nose on her arm a little bit, trying to be, like, cool about it, but is very deeply moved by this whole conversation. She's gonna say, wow, that's really cool how you did that. [00:40:41] Speaker A: It's pretty easy. [00:40:45] Speaker B: I think she's going to kind of set Otter Isaac back on the bedside, and I think she's going to give Myla a really big, big hug. [00:40:56] Speaker A: I think Milo doesn't know what to do at first, and she's sort of like. She's only really gotten a hug from ID before. [00:41:06] Speaker B: That must have been incredibly awkward, knowing. [00:41:08] Speaker A: The two of you and I. And I think that she just sort of, like, stops and just, like, slowly, like, pats your back. And then she moves herself out and she grabs the surveys and she holds them close, and she says, I need to go talk to ID and Melwyn and make sure they know I'm awake. [00:41:37] Speaker B: Mm. [00:41:40] Speaker A: But she's gonna leave Otter Isaac out, and it's gonna just be like, it just in case you need someone. And I think she'll very, like, slowly, like, sidestep through the door and be like, good morning. I'm not dead or a puppet anymore. [00:42:00] Speaker E: Oh, my goodness, you're awake. Id get your sorry ass out of bed. [00:42:06] Speaker A: I'm kind of wiping away, like, a little bit of snot that's on my shirt, trying to, like, cover it up. [00:42:12] Speaker D: A little bit because it's like. [00:42:16] Speaker A: Hi. [00:42:17] Speaker C: Yeah, it comes in the room. [00:42:19] Speaker E: Okay. [00:42:20] Speaker B: I thought he was still gonna be on the floor. [00:42:22] Speaker E: I honestly, I don't know. [00:42:25] Speaker D: Nadia gives you a thumbs up from the couch and then realizes that's super lame. So then she, like, gets up. She also. She also feels really shitty. [00:42:33] Speaker A: Sorry. [00:42:33] Speaker D: That's really funny. And then. And then, like, like, makes her way to the room. [00:42:42] Speaker A: Milo will. [00:42:43] Speaker D: Towards Myla. [00:42:43] Speaker A: Milo will turn around, kind of, like, eye the doorway she just came from a little bit. And she'll turn back. She'll say, I think we can spend the day doing whatever, but I think we all need to reserve some time tonight for us all to go out. [00:42:59] Speaker E: Celebrate. [00:43:00] Speaker A: I'm not a puppet. Yeah, all of us. Yeah. [00:43:06] Speaker C: Okay. [00:43:07] Speaker E: No one makes a face. [00:43:09] Speaker D: Sorry. [00:43:10] Speaker C: Where are we going? [00:43:12] Speaker A: Myla turns to Nadia. [00:43:14] Speaker B: Well, we can't go to a club because Mellie is not gonna be allowed in. [00:43:19] Speaker A: We can sneak her in. [00:43:21] Speaker D: Yeah, you know, I think there's. There's like. It's like. It's like fake magic tag, you know? [00:43:32] Speaker E: What are we going to play laser tag? I'm sorry, wait. [00:43:35] Speaker D: Yeah, they give you, like, little, like, pods that have, like, non damaging spells in them. And then you shoot them at each other, but also try to hide. This is my favorite thing you've done. [00:43:49] Speaker E: For this fucking world. [00:43:50] Speaker A: It's just. And you have to pay for it. [00:43:55] Speaker D: Yeah, but it's like, cheap is, you know, for fun. [00:43:59] Speaker E: Milo, you realize if we go out, that implies that we have to pay for something, right? [00:44:04] Speaker A: Well, I mean, yeah, but, like, I can do that for free. Like, I heard there's like, Gozoneschian pizza by the slice somewhere that's like, open separately. So, like, maybe we can like, all go get that after, too. Like, I'd pay for that. I haven't had pizza by the slice in a bit. [00:44:24] Speaker C: I had that for breakfast. It was really good. [00:44:27] Speaker A: You had Gosloshi and pizza by the slice for breakfast? It's like a cross. [00:44:31] Speaker D: Comes back with an extra. He comes back with two extra pieces every time and then eats them within the hour. [00:44:37] Speaker A: Where have I been? I've been a puppet. [00:44:45] Speaker D: Ever since you found this place. You can buy it by the slice, right? So you don't have to buy a whole pizza. [00:44:50] Speaker B: Well, if you know the pizza's worth anyway, you might as well just get a big old pizza. [00:44:55] Speaker C: Exactly. [00:44:56] Speaker D: I tried to tell him. [00:44:57] Speaker C: Well, no, it's easier to carry private slice. [00:45:01] Speaker D: He just, like, stack. He just stacks the plates on top of each other. [00:45:05] Speaker A: Do you think we could just fold. Do you think we could just fold the. The whole pizza in half? [00:45:09] Speaker B: That's easy. [00:45:10] Speaker C: I don't want a fucking calzone. Myla. [00:45:13] Speaker A: It's not a calzone. It's a pizza in half. They're two different things. Don't be mean to me. [00:45:18] Speaker B: Only from Rain. I know that one. [00:45:20] Speaker D: Yeah. She just got out of puppet form, so I. You can't. Legally. You can't be mean to her. [00:45:25] Speaker C: I think I can be into whoever I want to. [00:45:28] Speaker E: Where do you want to go, Milo? [00:45:32] Speaker A: I guess spell tag is fine. [00:45:37] Speaker E: Okay. Is it fine? [00:45:38] Speaker B: Spell tag and pizza, by the way. [00:45:39] Speaker E: That'S what we want to do. Because if you want to go to a club, we can just go with. [00:45:43] Speaker A: The why don't we do it all? [00:45:46] Speaker E: My mic. [00:45:47] Speaker A: Why don't we do it all? [00:45:49] Speaker E: Oh, God. [00:45:50] Speaker C: Oh, boy. [00:45:52] Speaker D: No insight check needed. Nadia's like, I can't get drunk tonight. That's not gonna happen. But, like, in her heart, she desperately. She doesn't say this. She just is like. You can see it in her face. She's like, I really want to get drunk. I can't do it. Also, this sounds like a really long night. If I can't get drunk, then let's start early. [00:46:15] Speaker A: Let's do spelltag. [00:46:16] Speaker E: Now, does melon get the impression that a lesser restoration might help Nadia? [00:46:21] Speaker D: I want to say no, because that list was so specific. [00:46:25] Speaker E: Yeah, oddly specific list. [00:46:29] Speaker D: She just kind of looks really hungover. Like you. You get her a huge cup of coffee, she'd probably be okay. [00:46:34] Speaker E: But, I mean, alternate plan. I go get food and make special dinner. Like an actual dinner and not just eating out. [00:46:47] Speaker A: Sure. [00:46:49] Speaker B: I can help scrub potatoes and stuff if you'd like. [00:46:54] Speaker E: Sure. [00:46:55] Speaker D: Everyone, you guys are all talking about evening plans, and this way the introverts don't have to leave. Knock on the door. There's a knock on the door. [00:47:03] Speaker A: A knock on. Are we expecting company? [00:47:05] Speaker E: It. [00:47:06] Speaker A: Go answer. [00:47:07] Speaker B: Okay, I'm just gonna grab her hammer. [00:47:11] Speaker C: It goes and opens the door. [00:47:15] Speaker D: Yeah, you open the door, and Ari comes in like. Like, tackle hug a little bit. And then remembers that, like, it probably wouldn't like that. And then there was, like, a good shot that whoever she did, whoever did open the door would like a tackle hug. And it was id. And so she was, like, already prepared for it. So she like, hey. [00:47:43] Speaker B: You'Re back. [00:47:44] Speaker D: I found you guys. [00:47:45] Speaker C: Yeah. Good job. And just in time, too. Milo is back. [00:47:52] Speaker E: Did she. [00:47:53] Speaker D: Wait, did she know that Myla was gone? [00:47:55] Speaker B: Yes. We talked to Ari. [00:47:57] Speaker A: I'm gonna cast detect magic. [00:47:59] Speaker E: I think we talked to Ari. [00:48:01] Speaker D: I don't think talked to Ari. Did you? Maybe you did. [00:48:08] Speaker B: Because we had the sending stone. [00:48:10] Speaker D: We did. We did. [00:48:12] Speaker A: I don't think you guys told Ari about it at all. [00:48:13] Speaker E: I don't think we told Ari that Myla got yanked. [00:48:18] Speaker B: I see. I see, I see. [00:48:21] Speaker D: Yeah. You cast the tech magic. There are two noticeable things. The first one is that the yellow magic that's been sticking around ID gone. Not there anymore. [00:48:31] Speaker A: Oh. [00:48:34] Speaker D: So that's different. And then very, very probable that it's puppet tracker that has disappeared. Yeah. And then the second thing you notice is that Ari is not. There is no of. None of the regular red and blue that you see in, like, ID as well, but instead she is just, like, completely wreathed in a slight, like, layer of gold. And then beyond, like, outside of that, it turns into, like, a pearlescent, like, pastels mixture. [00:49:11] Speaker A: What the fuck is. What the fuck is wrong with you? Sorry. [00:49:16] Speaker D: Wait, back from what? [00:49:18] Speaker A: Sorry. No, sorry. [00:49:20] Speaker D: Wait, no. What'd you get back from? [00:49:23] Speaker A: Oh, I was a puppet for a bit also. Id. Your yellow magic is gone, by the way. So you're good. You. Gold pearl magic. What's up? What's the deal? Sorry, that was really. It was a really rude way of me saying it. It's been a lot. I've already shown a lot of, like, kindness and, like, emotion today, and so I'm feeling like, a little. What do you need? What's up? [00:49:45] Speaker B: I'm really glad to see you. [00:49:46] Speaker D: It's, like, kind of early. [00:49:48] Speaker A: Yes, that. [00:49:53] Speaker D: Yeah. I don't know. Amali did helped me figure out some stuff, so I don't really know what it is, but it's definitely something different. And also. And she, like, awkwardly kind of pulls her shirt open to just the, like, parts like her, like, the heart and everything that she has as well, and they are just completely stopped. Like, they're not moving anymore. Whatever kind of countdown timer that you had seen before also stopped unmoving. But she's definitely alive. Like, she's not undead or anything, because you'd be able to tell. That just looks like it's bypassing whatever this is as well. I don't. She didn't really tell me what it was, but she said that there's something. There's like something in. Inside me. I guess I don't really like your organs. Like, say what it was? No, like. Like. Like a. I don't know. From what I could tell, it was like some kind of spirit or soul or something. I don't know. [00:51:05] Speaker A: What, like, different from your own soul. [00:51:11] Speaker D: Like, what she'll. [00:51:15] Speaker B: She's. [00:51:15] Speaker D: She thinks about. She's like, I. Huh? No. Yes. Kinda. I don't really know. [00:51:27] Speaker B: But you're good and things are feeling good. [00:51:30] Speaker D: I feel awesome. [00:51:32] Speaker B: That's great. I'm really glad. [00:51:38] Speaker D: What are you guys talking about? [00:51:40] Speaker B: Um, we were gonna go play magic tag and eat dinner tonight when we get. [00:51:52] Speaker D: Not eat dinner every night. [00:51:53] Speaker B: Like, special dinner. [00:51:55] Speaker D: Oh, no one's a great puppet. Oh, yeah, Yeah, I remember. [00:52:02] Speaker B: Yeah. Marla got turned into a puppet for a little bit, so we're celebrating that she's not a puppet anymore. [00:52:08] Speaker D: Oh, yeah. Good. [00:52:09] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:52:11] Speaker D: Yeah. What was that all about? How did you. How did you get turned into A puppet. [00:52:18] Speaker E: Kind of a long story. Why don't. You can tell Ari if you want. You don't have to. Maybe. And Melwin, I'm gonna. Melwyn is not gonna speak in third person is what's gonna happen there. I am gonna go. I'm gonna go buy food for dinner. [00:52:41] Speaker B: I'll come with you. [00:52:43] Speaker A: Cool. [00:52:44] Speaker E: Sounds good. [00:52:47] Speaker D: Before you. I just. Sorry. Before you go, she pulls out a, like, folded up letter from her pocket that says. It just says Melwyn on the front. And it's like, I'm supposed to give this to you. It's from Wally. She didn't say what it was, but she told me to give it to you. It doesn't seem. It's not like booby trapped or anything. I can tell. [00:53:08] Speaker E: Melon's gonna very slowly take it and just shove it into her pocket and slowly start out the door. [00:53:19] Speaker D: Sure. [00:53:20] Speaker A: As they leave, Milo's gonna turn in and say, do you want to. Do you want to spar? It's been a bit. [00:53:27] Speaker C: Sure. Go where? [00:53:31] Speaker A: I don't know. [00:53:33] Speaker C: All right. [00:53:34] Speaker A: There's gotta be a field somewhere. Dig a pit, a park. Do they have gyms here? [00:53:41] Speaker C: I mean, we should probably, like, ask if there's rules or whatever. [00:53:45] Speaker A: Oh, yeah. Let's go. [00:53:48] Speaker C: Okay. [00:53:50] Speaker D: Did you guys find a place to spar the other Autumn and Melwyn, go find groceries and ingredients. What are you making? [00:54:01] Speaker E: I don't know. I didn't think that through. [00:54:04] Speaker D: Okay. [00:54:06] Speaker B: Oh, you know what makes butter chicken? [00:54:08] Speaker E: You know what we could make, actually, is a three potato stew based on a recipe by the amazing Dan the baker who guested in our Pearls and Princesses episode. [00:54:21] Speaker D: Ooh, true. [00:54:22] Speaker A: Three potatoes is better than. [00:54:24] Speaker C: That's so smart. [00:54:26] Speaker B: I've been meaning to make that, but. [00:54:27] Speaker E: I've canonically the soup that Melwyn probably was making that she made in the pot stirrer for. Because why not? [00:54:39] Speaker D: Yeah, you can definitely. You do that and you get things to, like, really spruce it up and, like, have stuff on the side and. [00:54:45] Speaker E: Like, a ton of chicken because it's a carnivore. [00:54:51] Speaker D: Did you get. Did Myla and Ed want to, like, chat at all or you just go in a spar, come back? Totally. Okay. Either way. Wanted to give you the option in case you had a conversation in mind for some reason. [00:55:06] Speaker A: I think Myla is going because. Is Ari with us? [00:55:14] Speaker D: She was not invited in either group, so she's sitting in the room with Nadia. [00:55:18] Speaker A: Okay, cool. I think as we left her with Yaren. We left her with Yaren as they're. [00:55:24] Speaker D: Going yeah, Nadia and Yaren, we said Anastasia. [00:55:27] Speaker B: You can have a conversation with all three of your NPCs here. [00:55:30] Speaker E: Yeah, have fun. [00:55:31] Speaker A: Insert. [00:55:32] Speaker D: You get back there. They're playing three person solitaire. Yarn is killing it. [00:55:37] Speaker A: Just kidding. [00:55:38] Speaker D: He's losing horribly. [00:55:43] Speaker A: I think that as they go and they're gonna find like a place to spar. I think that like it probably takes a minute and I think that after we find the place, my head's gonna go. Okay. So if you actually want to spar, that's totally fine. But I actually wanted to ask you something. [00:56:02] Speaker C: Okay. [00:56:06] Speaker A: We're. We're. We're. We're best friends, right? [00:56:11] Speaker C: Yeah, for sure. [00:56:14] Speaker A: Are you sure? You don't sound sure. [00:56:17] Speaker B: I need to. [00:56:18] Speaker A: I need to. [00:56:19] Speaker C: I didn't think any. I mean if there's anybody who is my best friend, it's definitely you. But I mean it's not like a one sided decision, you know, through process of elimination. [00:56:31] Speaker A: I mean I would. I am fine with us being best friends. Are you consenting to being my best friend? [00:56:35] Speaker C: Yeah. Great. [00:56:38] Speaker A: Okay. And best friends tell each other secrets, right? [00:56:44] Speaker C: Sure. [00:56:46] Speaker A: I need you to contractually via word. That doesn't make sense. I'm not making sense. I'm a mess. Id. I need you to tell me that you can keep a secret. [00:56:57] Speaker C: I am very good at keeping secrets and I will keep this one. Is that what you want? I don't know what's going on. [00:57:06] Speaker A: Yes, that is exactly what I want. [00:57:07] Speaker C: Id Cool. [00:57:09] Speaker A: I can't do this anymore. I can't do this anymore. I've been going in circles and circles and circles for days and weeks and it's crazy and I didn't understand and then I heard and then I think I'm starting to understand, but I don't know what to do with it. And I need your help because I don't know how to do things. I don't know how to talk to people. I don't know how you're good at talking to people. I don't know how to. You are. You are. It's literally. It emanates around you. You're good with people. You have almost like a 10 foot aura. Id. [00:57:39] Speaker D: Okay, I measured it. Id. [00:57:43] Speaker C: I mean if you say so. [00:57:45] Speaker D: Fucking brilliant. [00:57:47] Speaker A: No notes. [00:57:48] Speaker E: Id. [00:57:52] Speaker A: I think I have a crush on Auden. [00:57:55] Speaker C: Ew. [00:57:56] Speaker E: Fucking called it. [00:58:01] Speaker C: I'm sorry, I had to. [00:58:05] Speaker A: Can we please end the episode there? [00:58:07] Speaker E: Benjamin, I love you. [00:58:08] Speaker D: That's amazing. [00:58:10] Speaker A: Can we please end the episode there? [00:58:12] Speaker E: We're ending the.
