[00:00:00] Speaker A: Foreign. Hello everybody and welcome back to Spells and Whistles, a usually D&D5E podcast. But not this time. And also not last time. Nor the time before that and also the next four times. Great. We're playing a game called Tunnel Goons. We're glad to have you along for the ride. Wow. Awesome. I'm having a great time with my buddies. Loved this game so far. It is so much fun. If you're interested in playing it it will be linked below. It's a pay what you want game. It's really fun, really simple, really easy to just pick up and get going. So highly would recommend previously on our Game Here, our three valiant heroes each told at some point in their life that they were the chosen one, found out that that might not actually be the case. Having traveled from all different corners of Ruhn to meet the sky reader, she revealed that the prophecy was very and this is just kind of their best guess. She gave them a potted plant that is not even open. The flower is still closed. And gave them a place to rest for the night before they headed out on their journey. They really wanted to take the flower to the peak of Mount Winnet, the tallest, tallest peak in all of Ruhn. But they were interrupted in their night's sleep by a large storm blowing in dozens of stormlings chittering and chattering at the windows, breaking in all kinds of crazy stuff. So they decided to run away. But in the intensity of the storm, they slipped and fell into the lake and that is where we ended the sessions. But before we get back into the game today, we also leveled up. So let's go around and say what happened to our guys. [00:01:54] Speaker B: All right. So yeah, for Ant, I leveled up my HP, choosing that over inventory, and then added one to Brute. So now it's 1, 1, 1 across the board. Nice little jack of all trades. Ant of all trades if you want. [00:02:11] Speaker A: Incredible. [00:02:14] Speaker C: So Finn added one to Brute as well. So Finn is a very brute y. He's 2 in brute, 0 in skulgurt, and 1 in erudite. And I also maxed up my hp by 1, so a total of 11 hp. Hit hard, get hit hard. [00:02:34] Speaker A: Hopefully not. [00:02:35] Speaker C: You never know. [00:02:38] Speaker A: But you never know. Morgan, tell us about your. [00:02:42] Speaker D: Yeah, for Tesla, I also took one in HP, so 11 HP now and then took another in erudite. I'm two in erudite, one skulker, zero fruits. [00:02:56] Speaker A: Amazing. [00:02:57] Speaker D: Getting that research. [00:02:59] Speaker A: Very cool. The way that the game works is that you always level up after every two sessions. So even though it seems Like a weird time to level up. I'm just following the rules, so don't get mad at me at home. Why would you ever. We're perfect here at the Joke. Cool. We'll just kind of jump right back into our story if we're getting cinematic with it. There is a torrent of water that overtakes you. All your limbs and bodies feel scraped and battered and bruised as you slide down this steep rocky surface into the lake and the water overtakes you. The clothes and the items that you are wearing and holding are weighing you down. It is dark. It is cold. You are being lurched all throughout the water as this rain seems to be flooded, flooding and causing all kinds of small waterfalls and just waves and waves of this roaring water. Each of you at one point catches a glimpse of something above you, flashing, lighting up. And you see the shapes of these stormlings that have chased you and led you to the lake before. For one reason or another. Everything goes black. You wake up to the feeling of moisture, but not all encompassing the way that it was. In the lake. You find yourselves just soaked and damp. But above water, thankfully, you're splayed out on a rocky surface of some kind. Not very comfortable, it seems. Just the ground and there's the distant sound of water dripping, but you can't really place exactly where it's coming from. The space you're in feels spacious and sounds spacious, but you're not quite sure of that either as it is completely pitch black in this area that you have found yourselves in. [00:05:00] Speaker C: I'm going to get up and dust off the front of me. Thankfully, the sheet pan that is strapped to my runesport is has taken the good brunt of the sort of fall down. I'm gonna run over to Tesley and Ant and help them up a little bit and be like, are you guys okay? Did you guys. Do you guys need anything? [00:05:22] Speaker A: You're gonna need to fumble around? [00:05:23] Speaker C: Yeah. [00:05:24] Speaker A: Because if it's so dark you don't know where they are, I'll take out. [00:05:27] Speaker C: My runesport and pull out my lantern. Because I have a lantern. So that what I said before, but with a lantern in a hand. Cool. [00:05:40] Speaker A: Great. Maybe I'll patch it in like that. Patch it in to explain it like you just did. [00:05:45] Speaker B: Lantern. [00:05:48] Speaker C: It's patched in, but it's just Luca saying lantern and take it again. [00:05:55] Speaker A: That's so good. Yeah. It takes a couple of strikes to get the lantern going, but it eventually does. And you are quite overwhelmed by the small light that you have in this very Large cavern. You find your companions easily, though. Both kind of on the ground like. Like coughing baby water. [00:06:19] Speaker D: Baby water. [00:06:22] Speaker A: Not baby water. Baby water. Do you know the meme like coughing baby versus Adam? No. [00:06:31] Speaker C: Boy. [00:06:32] Speaker A: Okay, I'll write that down. [00:06:34] Speaker B: Patch it in. Meg. [00:06:37] Speaker A: On the coughing up baby water. Baby. Okay. Anyway, yeah. You find your two companions sort of coughing up water alive and safe. The plant also seems to be. It's seen better days. You know, when a plant kind of like breaks a little bit and you can see kind of that like, vein of breakage. Some of the leaves have gotten a little crinkled and seem to be kind of leaking just the tiniest bit of SAP or fluid of some kind. But the flower bud that has yet to open still seems very intact, which is probably a good thing. [00:07:14] Speaker B: Yeah, I think Ant is going to cough up some water. Looking a little bit like a drowned rat. His purple hair is, like laying down in its face, not having a good time. There should not be this much water in the sky or anywhere actually, ever. It's just like. And like looking and doing a double check on the. The plant before, like giving. Giving Finn like a thumb. A very weak thumbs up. It's like. Yeah. Where. Where are we? This doesn't look like the cliff we were falling down. [00:07:54] Speaker C: Finn will look to Tesselly. [00:07:57] Speaker D: I'd say it's Cavernosaurus. Kind of hard to tell which one, but. [00:08:03] Speaker B: No. I thought it was an open field. [00:08:06] Speaker C: Oh, that was. [00:08:07] Speaker B: How did we get in a cavern? Yeah, how did we get in a cavern? [00:08:10] Speaker A: Sar Cavern. [00:08:14] Speaker B: No. [00:08:15] Speaker A: Okay. [00:08:17] Speaker D: What? [00:08:19] Speaker A: It's not a sarcasm. It's a SAR Cavern. [00:08:22] Speaker D: Oh. [00:08:23] Speaker A: All right. Anyway, carry on. Sorry. [00:08:28] Speaker B: How did we get in here? Anyone remember anything other than, honestly, drowning? Is that what drowning feels like? [00:08:37] Speaker D: That's what I remember. [00:08:39] Speaker B: Oh, good. We're dead. [00:08:40] Speaker D: Did we die? [00:08:42] Speaker C: No. We're chosen. No. I'll start looking around, see what I can see. There's a little. That I can. If I can see anything. [00:08:55] Speaker A: Yeah. Is there anything in particular you're looking for? You just make it a general look around. [00:09:00] Speaker C: We were being followed. Slash attacked. Right. So I guess I'm gonna look and see if anything is falling behind us. Like, are we still under siege or are we like, good, I guess. Look back the way we came. [00:09:17] Speaker A: Go ahead and make me. I think erudite probably fits best for that. But if you can argue for something else, I will let you argue that. [00:09:25] Speaker B: Root it. [00:09:26] Speaker C: I'm going to. [00:09:27] Speaker A: I'm going to look super hard with my muscular eyeballs. [00:09:30] Speaker C: Drain my eyes. Yeah, I Did leave my glasses at home. [00:09:35] Speaker A: Oh, no. Oh, I didn't set you a difficulty score. We'll call it an eight. [00:09:43] Speaker C: Has a. Has a four. I rolled a two and a one. [00:09:47] Speaker A: It's not a success. [00:09:49] Speaker B: Press one. [00:09:50] Speaker A: Eight's the easy difficulty score they give you. [00:09:53] Speaker C: Yeah, it's fine. I can't see. [00:09:55] Speaker A: I can't see shit. [00:09:56] Speaker C: I'm holding a lantern in the dark, like. [00:09:59] Speaker A: Yeah, I think that as kind of an explanation of that, like, it's not that you're looking poorly, right? Like you're doing a good job, but I think just this cavern that you're in is so big and your land light only goes so far. And I think the way that it kind of moves across the walls, stalactites coming down from this cathedral like ceiling of this rocky, stony place in which you find yourself cast shadows across the walls that seem to move and creep along. Not unlike the stormlings that chased you here after a couple of jump scares, I think you figure out what's going on and you get the general sense that, like, you're not seeing anything actually here, but it doesn't really put you in ease. [00:10:47] Speaker C: Yeah, I think Finn. Finn's like, no, no, no, we're not. We're not dead. We're just. We found a hidden chosen cave that's scary and spooky and sucks a lot, and it hurts when we go in it. But we're fine. We're good, right? We're fine. We got the flower. [00:11:16] Speaker B: We do have the flower. I mean, so that's a plus. But should we get out of the spooky cave that hurts a lot when we get in it. Do you think it's gonna hurt to get out of the cave as well? [00:11:29] Speaker C: I looked at Tesla. [00:11:31] Speaker A: Are you fine? [00:11:32] Speaker D: You don't sound fine. [00:11:35] Speaker B: Me or Finn fit? [00:11:38] Speaker C: Yeah, no, I mean, I. I didn't get hurt or anything. So physically, yes, I'm actually really good. I'm actually feeling stronger than before. [00:11:50] Speaker B: Me too, kind of. Which is weird after that. [00:11:52] Speaker C: Yeah. You got mad gains, bro. [00:11:55] Speaker B: Yeah. Yeah. Where'd that come from? [00:12:05] Speaker A: How. [00:12:06] Speaker D: What is the ground situation? Is it just like hard rock or is it like, kind of like dirt or anything loose? [00:12:13] Speaker A: This is a great Tesla question because it's such a Tesla question, you know, And I love that for you. Great. What is this rock made of? Yeah. So this seems to be limestone. And one thing that you have learned in your time as caravanner. Is that the word? I don't know. In your studies, as you've traveled all around Ruhn you have heard of, like, a lot of times, lakes will be formed in kind of limestone divots and. What's the word I'm looking for when it. [00:12:43] Speaker B: Like, basins. [00:12:44] Speaker A: Basins, yeah. And sometimes the way that the rocks kind of interact and engage with each other, they create layers with other stone and other rocks that aren't quite as sturdy, aren't quite as stable as limestone. If you were to guess, it looks like everything you're seeing seems to be that limestone. But maybe there was, like, sandstone or something that used to be here that has since eroded away. There's a lot of moisture and water dripping from the ceiling. And if you were to guess, like, maybe in the storm, in the water swirling around, you somehow got funneled into this cavern beneath the lake, or like you seem to be in some kind of cave system beneath and around the lake. Like, it has lake smell to it. [00:13:29] Speaker D: Because I was hoping you were gonna say dirt, and I was gonna say, can I use my compass to look at the directions and draw a large cardinal thing in the dirt with my ore? But now I have to reconsider what I'm gonna do about this. [00:13:49] Speaker A: Sorry to disappoint. [00:13:50] Speaker D: It's okay. No, underneath the lake. It smells like lake. [00:13:56] Speaker B: Do you say that out loud? [00:13:58] Speaker D: Yeah. [00:14:00] Speaker B: Ant is like, what? Sorry, we're underneath the lake? [00:14:04] Speaker D: Yeah, I think somehow we got carpented underneath the lake. [00:14:10] Speaker B: No, I don't like that, actually. I can't swim. So if we have to go back out of underneath the lake, this is a problem. [00:14:20] Speaker D: There might be other ways out. Okay. Like, start looking and feeling around for. [00:14:26] Speaker B: Tunnels and directions as Tesley is doing that. I'm gonna rubbage in my bag for something. [00:14:33] Speaker A: Morgan, go ahead and make me an erudite roll. And Lucas, tell me what Ant is looking for in his bag. [00:14:39] Speaker B: Ant is going to pull out the weathervane and try to use it to find any air coming into the cave system. [00:14:46] Speaker A: I really like that. [00:14:48] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:14:49] Speaker A: What was that roll? [00:14:51] Speaker D: Did you say it was a roll or an erudite roll? And can I use my compass? Okay. Of course. [00:14:57] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:14:57] Speaker D: Then that's a six plus two plus one is nine. [00:15:02] Speaker A: Okay, great. I would have said it at an eight. I just forgot to say it out loud. So that's great. Your difficulty score will be an 8 for that. That happened before. [00:15:16] Speaker D: That's the only time you've said that the first time. [00:15:21] Speaker A: All right. Yeah. I think as you. You have your compass and you're kind of able to orient yourself a little bit. I mean, it's like A weird big cave. So it's like not, you know, that the general direction that you needed to go to Mount Winet was north. So you're able to find north. Great. Awesome. And you're kind of feeling around on the walls and it seems pretty solid. You can't really identify where it is that you guys came in from or anything like that. But as you're looking, you do see some like, carvings or inscriptions on the wall. There is like a very ancient kind of text scribed in that isn't anything that you've read before. So you're not quite sure what it's saying. But it looks like there is a carving or a petroglyph of some kind of a plant with an open blossom. It has kind of action arrow, like, you know, in comic books, like lines to kind of symbolize action. Or maybe it's like smell. It could be the flower is smelling, or it looks like something is coming out of the flower. Or there is something about the flower, but you're not sure what exactly it means. Cause you can't read the words that are there beneath it. [00:16:45] Speaker D: Can I take. I have quill and ink. Can I do a rubbing with quill? [00:16:51] Speaker A: I'll say you definitely can. Sure. Just for fun. I don't know if that's real, but it is in rune. Yeah. So while I'm doing that, I have. [00:17:00] Speaker D: A fantasy flare pen. I have a rune pen. [00:17:04] Speaker A: It's a rubbing pen. [00:17:06] Speaker D: Yeah, is what it is. [00:17:07] Speaker A: Tesley's over kind of rubbing stuff against the wall against some paper, and you pull out your weathervane and you're kind of like, you do the closed eyes thing to try and not be biased about it moving and whatever. And you feel it moving ever so slightly and you kind of are able to parse out. There seems to be a high up crack where cool air is kind of slowly venting through, but it also seems to be carrying out and through in a similar area to where Tesley is rubbing against the wall. So it seems like there is maybe the entrance where you came from up in the ceiling somewhere and potentially an exit somewhere in these walls. [00:17:54] Speaker B: Yeah, as. As Tesla is, you know, drawing the. On the. Not on the wall, on paper, on the wall. Ant is just walking slowly around, like taking a few steps in one direction, then back and then like a few steps in the other direction then back. And then finally like opens his eyes and it's like, all right, so I think we can go out further past. Then he finally takes a look and sees what Tesla is Doing? He's like, what are you doing? What is that? [00:18:24] Speaker D: Some ancient inscriptions with the plant. I can't read it myself, but I was taking a rub it out of it to see bring to someone who could. Have we ever come across that person? [00:18:40] Speaker B: Cool. Yeah. Hopefully it doesn't get wet on the way out. [00:18:45] Speaker D: Yeah, hopefully. [00:18:49] Speaker A: While Ant and Tesley are using the power of science to learn more about this cave. What are you up to, Finn? [00:18:56] Speaker C: I think Finn sort of sits for a second and he starts thinking real hard back to the book he was reading the other night. I'm gonna. Sorry, my thing creaked. I'm gonna resay that. And I think that he's thinking real hard about the book he read last night, the Gargoyle and the Pit. And I think that he's trying to tap into that and be like, well, if we're in a pit, how do we get out? And he's, like, looking up and he's like, well, we could let some water in, but oh, wait, no, Ant can't swim. That's not gonna work. And then he sort of looks to where Ant and Tesley are of the this in this area. And here's Ant. Say something about, like, there's a path somewhere that way. Can we, just for my clarification, can we visibly see anywhere where this, like, path might be? [00:19:49] Speaker A: It looks like solid stone all around the walls. I mean, there are some, like, natural cracks, but you're not feeling any air come from it. It looks like just kind of erosion. And the way that the rock is cleaving, if there is a door or a passage or something, it seems to be very well hidden. [00:20:10] Speaker C: I think Finn's going to look that way, is going to bring his lantern that way, sort of slightly next to Ant and tesselly, and is going to say under his breath, a hero born of blood will rise and set foot on a path unknown. And he's going to put down the lantern and he's going to start examining the wall for any sort of, like, breakage in it. See if he can pry something off or if there's like a give or something. Just start looking over there. [00:20:47] Speaker A: Awesome. Yeah. Go ahead and make me a check. What check do you feel would be best for this? [00:20:56] Speaker C: My heart wants it to be brute, but that doesn't make sense. [00:21:01] Speaker B: I heard the word pry. I heard the word plant. Sounds very strong. That seems like a brute kind of thing. [00:21:08] Speaker D: When you said pry, in my brain, my brain words were saying, strong, boy your way up. [00:21:14] Speaker C: Okay, yeah, I'll try and girl Boss. [00:21:16] Speaker A: My way through this. I'm okay with that. Cool. Go ahead and make me a brute roll, please. This is going to be a higher difficulty score than it would be if you were using a different skill. But since you have extra dice, it should probably be fine. I'm going to set it at an. [00:21:32] Speaker C: Can I reach into my runesport and pull out my crowbar? [00:21:38] Speaker A: Yeah, sure. [00:21:40] Speaker C: Getting good use of this inventory. [00:21:48] Speaker A: 1212. Oh, my goodness. Okay, great. Yeah. Fly past it. I think you find this, like, very particular kind of chink in the wall, and you realize that it's not the same kind of stone. It looks almost like a plaster or a concrete that has been, like, covered up part of the wall. So you wedge your crowbar in there, and you're pushing and pulling, and you hear this crack as the stone pulls away. Well, the quote. Quote stone pulls away from the wall and crumbles to the ground. And you see a continuation of this inscribing on the wall. It looks as though there are people kind of sitting and kneeling around the flower. It looks like the flower is closed. In this picture, the blossom, it hasn't blossomed yet. The bud is still closed. But you see these people sitting around it, and they have sort of the same kind of lines coming out of them as the flower did. What that means is up to interpretation. [00:22:52] Speaker C: Yeah. I think Finn will crack open the plaster and put his crowbar on his shoulder and just say, I think I found the path unknown. [00:23:02] Speaker B: My man. [00:23:03] Speaker C: It's this way. [00:23:04] Speaker B: Awesome. [00:23:05] Speaker C: He daps you up. [00:23:07] Speaker B: Yeah, absolutely. [00:23:09] Speaker C: For sure. [00:23:10] Speaker B: I got the plant in one hand. Dapped it up. Yeah. [00:23:13] Speaker A: As you dap each other up, and as you say, my man. Awesome. There's this tiny little organic kind of plink sound. And you see that the bud has loosened ever so slightly. [00:23:30] Speaker B: The flowers will grow. [00:23:32] Speaker C: The flower's a bro. [00:23:36] Speaker B: I'm gonna try to dap up the flower real gentle. Be like, my man. You'll leave the flower. My bud. [00:23:43] Speaker A: My bud. Oh, my gosh. Session title right there. Oh, my God. Rose and buds. Oh, my gosh. [00:23:51] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:23:52] Speaker D: So can this plant's name be Bud? [00:23:55] Speaker C: Oh, my gosh. [00:23:56] Speaker B: Yes, he absolutely is. [00:24:01] Speaker A: You gently dab up this closed flower. Sentences I never thought I would say. And you wait a minute. Nothing really seems to happen. [00:24:14] Speaker B: All right. That was too. It was too much for. [00:24:16] Speaker C: Yeah, maybe. Maybe he's an introvert. [00:24:19] Speaker B: Yeah, probably. Tesley, do you want to get another drawing of this drawing? Or. [00:24:28] Speaker A: There's also, like, ancient words written under this one, too. [00:24:32] Speaker B: Oh, actually, the words I'M getting all the words. [00:24:35] Speaker D: Any. Any like, inscriptions, words, anything on these walls. It's getting caught. [00:24:45] Speaker A: Awesome. Yeah. You're easily able to make that inscription. Yeah. [00:24:52] Speaker B: Well, shall we see where this leads? [00:24:56] Speaker D: Hopefully out. [00:24:59] Speaker A: So I want to clarify. It hasn't opened up to a tunnel. It's just showed more of this wall. [00:25:05] Speaker B: Oh. [00:25:07] Speaker A: Sorry to get you. [00:25:08] Speaker B: It's in the same direction, though, is where Ant was sensing there was airflow. Okay, well, I guess we just follow the wall further. [00:25:20] Speaker C: Yeah. [00:25:21] Speaker B: Finn, you have a light? Might be good if you go first. [00:25:24] Speaker C: Yeah, sure. I'll hold up the light, see if we can. How much farther we can go, if at all. And then they'd be like, we should. Is there any more wind? [00:25:40] Speaker A: Yeah, you make it a couple more paces farther and you find some more of this kind of plaster covered up kind of thing. And you. Again, I'm not going to make you roll for it because you did it the one time you're able to kind of prize free this sort of covering and you see, like, people again. The flower is there. It is open. It doesn't have the lines coming out of it, but there are people there that seem to be. I'm trying to think how I can describe this in a way that I see it in my brain, but not. I don't know, you see people. Like, there are some that are standing next to each other. There are some that seem to be embracing each other. There are some that seem to be holding hands with each other. There are some that seem to be like. There's like a circle of people and there's like some that have like. They look like instruments of some kind. Like there's. It looks like a party or a celebration of some kind maybe is happening with this flower at the center of all of it. [00:26:49] Speaker C: So we plant the flower and throw a rager. [00:26:55] Speaker B: I. Yeah, I think. I mean, it couldn't hurt, right? [00:27:00] Speaker C: Yeah. [00:27:03] Speaker B: Is the flower planted in this picture or is it in a container? [00:27:08] Speaker A: It doesn't look to be in a container, so it would probably presumably be growing straight out of the ground. [00:27:14] Speaker B: All right. [00:27:17] Speaker D: Do these, like, inscriptions give, like, foretelling a prophecy vibes, or are they giving, like, recording the history vibes more? [00:27:29] Speaker A: The latter. It doesn't look like this is like. It looks like just kind of chronicling and detailing an element or aspect of life. [00:27:40] Speaker D: So safe to assume that's probably not, like, what's gonna happen. [00:27:46] Speaker B: What could happen if we throw a party? [00:27:48] Speaker A: We climb the flower and throw a ranger. [00:27:53] Speaker D: Cutting heart. [00:27:57] Speaker B: Okay, well, we have to get out of here before we can plant the flower. [00:28:02] Speaker C: So do we go up the way we came then? [00:28:09] Speaker B: Maybe we just do a lap. Do a lap around the tavern. [00:28:13] Speaker D: Yeah, I've been kind of keeping like to one wall following that. [00:28:21] Speaker C: Okay. [00:28:21] Speaker D: Otherwise you're just gonna lose your way, you know? [00:28:26] Speaker C: Yeah, I got you. No stress. [00:28:29] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:28:33] Speaker B: Finn is very stressed. [00:28:36] Speaker A: Oh, what does Finn like being stressed out? You know, not to put words in your mouth. How is Finn kind of like carrying himself? [00:28:45] Speaker C: I think that Finn is like, it's one of those situations where he has sort of exhausted his options for what he feels he can do. And so he's like, I guess this just isn't my part of being the chosen one, which is still a very new concept for him. So I think that he's honestly just like watching what the other two are doing and going full force as like, oh, I'm going to do what they're. I'm going to do what they're doing, but just try to do something more me. So he's sort of playing a little bit of a. Of a follower right now, which is not a role he's used to or comfortable in, but he doesn't have the answers. So. Yeah, that. Yeah. [00:29:45] Speaker A: I think it's interesting being a follower while simultaneously leading the group with your. [00:29:50] Speaker C: Yeah. [00:29:51] Speaker A: And I think this, like feeling of having people at your back and not really sure, like, you know, literally and also like metaphorically, like, hopefully they have your back right now. Like, hopefully that, you know, this is something that like you can figure out together. As you're walking and kind of wandering through, you kind of take a lap of the room. You don't feel any other kind of air flow spots or anything. You've got your weathervane out ant and you're not really picking up on anything like that. And you eventually kind of go around this cavern until you return to this spot where you woke up on the ground. [00:30:30] Speaker D: That's strange. [00:30:34] Speaker C: I mean, if there's a crack up there, that's kind of feeling like the only other way in or out. Unless we're missing something. [00:30:46] Speaker B: Ant's like looking through his bag. Like, I don't have anything that can help us climb a wall. There aren't really walls in the desert to climb, so didn't really come prepared for that. [00:31:03] Speaker A: Tesselly one of the things that is as you're kind of walking and you're looking and you're thinking about the things that you've seen so far, the thing that keeps kind of like picking at your or like, you keep kind of mulling over and over again is like, why does the plant have lines? And what are the lines? And as you're kind of, like, thinking about that, it kind of reminds you of, oh, the cavern. [00:31:29] Speaker D: Cavern Caravan. [00:31:32] Speaker A: The caravan. Oh, my gosh. Don't know what just happened there. The caravan. The caravan, yeah. Either caravan where you're from. The caravan passed through an area of very North Ruhn where people were starting to develop a very interesting and new kind of technology. You received missive from it in, like, while you were stationed at one of the other towns. Someone from the caravan that had been off fetching supplies sent this letter, had to meet up with you guys and included illustrations of this thing that they called, like, a light bulb. And in the drawing, it had this kind of bell shape, and they drew these lines coming out of it and indicated on the paper that it was light that came from this thing, which is very different sort of situation. Obviously, like, flowers don't normally glow, but it looks kind of the same vibe. And in a cave, something that glows would probably be important. [00:32:43] Speaker D: Mm. Maybe the passage will open up if we can get the flower to glow. [00:32:54] Speaker B: Guys, do we have to Avatar it? Do we have to turn the lights off and trust in the flower? [00:33:02] Speaker D: Who's gonna kiss? [00:33:03] Speaker C: Guys, so do I turn off the lantern? But the flower's not open. The lines are. Look, the flowers open in the picture. [00:33:11] Speaker B: The flowers open in the picture, right? That's when the lines are coming. [00:33:15] Speaker A: Mm. [00:33:16] Speaker C: Well, it. Hey, it started to open. [00:33:18] Speaker B: Come on, little guy. [00:33:19] Speaker A: When we. [00:33:19] Speaker C: When. When we hugged. [00:33:23] Speaker B: Do it again. [00:33:23] Speaker C: Let's do it again. Come on. Come on. [00:33:25] Speaker B: Yeah, yeah. See if it does anything, you dap. [00:33:30] Speaker A: Each other up again. And this is a really leading question, but I don't know how else to ask this. How long does, like, the bro hug after, like, lingerie, you guys, like, dappen it up and then you're good. [00:33:47] Speaker B: Or is it maybe, like, because it'll do it? And then, like, both look at the flower. So maybe it's like a couple seconds, like, two or three seconds. [00:33:56] Speaker A: I think as this kind of, like, bro moment, like, lingers, the flower kind of opens up a little more. The insides of the flowers, you can see single flower. The inside of the flower, you can see is this beautiful, vibrant orange. Like, even against kind of the orangey glow of the lantern, it seems to be a very, like, bright color. It doesn't look like it's glowing just yet, but it is, like, opening more and more. Looking closer to the picture on the wall. [00:34:33] Speaker D: There were the people on the wall, and they were hugging and holding hands and. Maybe we should all hold hands. [00:34:42] Speaker C: Do we need to, like, Kumbaya? [00:34:45] Speaker B: Should we put the flower in the center? Put the flower down. [00:34:50] Speaker D: I don't see why not. [00:34:51] Speaker B: Hold some hands around the flower. [00:34:55] Speaker A: Great. You set the flower down, and you kind of all gather around each other and take each other's hands and kind of hold and. Wait a moment. [00:35:06] Speaker B: Nothing. What if I. I, like, go to hold one leaf and then hold someone's hand, like someone else? Get the other leaf. Maybe the flower wants to be part of this. [00:35:18] Speaker D: Hold the leaf. [00:35:22] Speaker A: Yeah. You grab onto the leaf and. Again, it doesn't really seem to. [00:35:27] Speaker C: Tesley, you're real. Tesla. [00:35:28] Speaker B: Come on, Mansmart. [00:35:29] Speaker C: Do you have any other ideas? [00:35:31] Speaker A: As you say that, the flower begins to open up even more, and there is a tiny, soft glow that begins to begin at the very bottom of this. Oh. Oh, oh. [00:35:41] Speaker C: Oh. Oh. Oh. That did it. That did something. [00:35:46] Speaker D: It did. [00:35:49] Speaker B: Oh. Compliments, Finn. Finn, you're really strong. [00:35:53] Speaker A: The light brightens ever since. [00:35:57] Speaker C: Hey, thanks, man. I appreciate that. [00:35:59] Speaker B: Yeah, for sure. [00:36:02] Speaker D: I think that was. I really like what you did with the. Distracting the Stormlings with your bag. Going in for a hit. Real smart. [00:36:12] Speaker B: Thanks. [00:36:13] Speaker A: The flower begins to glow even brighter and at this point is beginning to equal the brightness of the lamp. [00:36:22] Speaker C: Oh, I'm gonna turn off the lamp and, like, put it in my runesport. [00:36:28] Speaker A: Amazing. You stow away your lamp and this flower, this brilliant orange glow from this flower. You kind of pick up the pot that it's in and kind of cast it around the room. And you see almost like a. You know, those, like, UV pens that people will buy at, like, book fairs that will have the, like, the. You know, you can. Secret messages like this, like, soft yellow, like, markings and symbols begin to appear, overlaid with the inscriptions on the walls. And you see guidelines that lead to a small kind of notch in the wall. [00:37:10] Speaker D: That worked pretty well. Good job, guys. [00:37:14] Speaker C: Yeah. [00:37:16] Speaker D: So get out of here. [00:37:20] Speaker B: Yeah, that sounds good. [00:37:25] Speaker A: Do you want to describe what you just said to me? [00:37:27] Speaker C: Yeah, Finn will. [00:37:28] Speaker A: For our audio only. [00:37:29] Speaker C: It's fine. It's fine. It's fine. I'm fine. I do podcasts often. Finn will walk over, continue putting the Jansport on both. Sorry. Runesport. Both backpack straps tightened this time. Ready to go. And we'll go to the notch in the wall and try to move it, activate it, whatever that is. [00:37:57] Speaker A: You're able to kind of grab it and tuck your fingers kind of, like, into this crevice. And as you do and as the light is shining on this. Oh. [00:38:06] Speaker B: Oh. [00:38:06] Speaker C: Uh. [00:38:06] Speaker A: Oh, that's okay. We are okay. As you kind of tuck that in and pull on this chunk of wall, there's this deep, low rumbling sound, and the wall pushes itself to the side. That flow of air ant that you had clocked earlier kind of picks up as there is more space for the air to travel. And in front of you is a passageway leading out of the cavern. [00:38:34] Speaker C: Oh, now I. Now I get what they mean when they're like, one's a company, two's a crowd, three's a party. [00:38:42] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:38:44] Speaker D: So what's four? Kinda like, look to the plant. [00:38:52] Speaker C: An adventure. [00:38:55] Speaker B: I like it. [00:38:56] Speaker D: Sounds good to me. [00:38:56] Speaker B: Yeah. Yeah. [00:38:58] Speaker C: Finn will look proud. Carry on. [00:39:04] Speaker A: You said that. And, like, the music that I'm listening to right now just came to this really heroic, like, swell, right? That it was, like, really perfect. Made me laugh. I was like, yeah, you should. [00:39:14] Speaker C: Fort is an adventure. [00:39:16] Speaker A: Ben Fort is an adventure. Touched. Anyway, yeah, you're. I don't want to put words in your mouth, but I'm assuming you're heading down this passageway. [00:39:29] Speaker B: Yes. [00:39:29] Speaker D: The rager can wait. [00:39:31] Speaker A: Yeah, the rager. The rager. Hey, we got our own little rager in our hearts. You're able to carry on down this passage. The plant providing a almost comforting warm glow. I mean, you're in unfortunate circumstances. You're at the bottom below a lake in a cave somewhere in Ruhn where you don't know how far from your destination you are. You don't know you really are just. Despite the circumstances, though, find yourselves in light spirits as you're trekking on. This is a very, like, smoothly paved. Not paved, but it's been, like, smoothed down over time, Presumably a footpath at some point in time. It doesn't seem to be, like, waterways that have created it, but as you're walking, this plant provides a very gentle, very pleasant, nice glow. And the kind of pervasive, swampy smell of the lake begins to diminish further and further as you walk until you're just left with the kind of underground musk, the dry, sort of dusty smell instead of the kind of, like, humidity, planty kind of. You know, when I meet, like, when I say lake smell, you know that's gone. Yeah. Good work. You solved the puzzle. Hooray. [00:40:55] Speaker D: Friendship is magic. [00:40:57] Speaker B: The power of friendship. [00:40:59] Speaker A: Friendship. [00:41:00] Speaker D: What it was the friends we made along the way. [00:41:03] Speaker A: Could I be so bold as to ask for your marching order just for good cause? [00:41:12] Speaker B: Does Finn have the plant or did it? Does. Does. [00:41:19] Speaker D: I assumed that Ant had the plan. [00:41:22] Speaker C: Yeah. I think Finn felt really good about being in the back with his sheep pan, so I think that he's gonna go back to that, doing that. Awesome. [00:41:32] Speaker D: Ant has been plant daddy so far, so. [00:41:35] Speaker A: Yeah. Awesome. So Tesla in the middle. [00:41:41] Speaker B: Yeah, yeah. I got the light source. [00:41:47] Speaker A: And at the front of the party here, as you walk, you notice this kind of. How do I describe these patches of, like, darker color on the wall that, as you pass by with the plant, seem to, like, come to life a little bit. I don't know if you've ever had the experience of, like, when I go on hikes, I'm from, like, a very deserty kind of area, and sometimes there will be moss that's all, like, dried up, but if you, like, pour water on it, it will become green and get all, like, fluffy and soft again, which is really exciting as a moss lover. And it's kind of doing that thing where you pass by and the plant's light touches these things that they start to sort of puff up a little bit, and you see these tiny, little white flowers begin to kind of poke up, and the ground beneath you cracks a little more, and there's growth and plant life in the. Between the cracks of these stones. And as you're walking, there seems to be, like, a small, slight crack in the ceiling above you. And there's just the tiniest bit of sunlight that seems to be coming into this hallway as you're walking. It is not like the slot canyon you were in earlier, where you were able to kind of like, shuffle and climb out. It's very, very narrow, but just enough light that it kind of, you know, aids in your vision a little more. As you're walking and as you're going. [00:43:10] Speaker B: Ants would be like, did. Did we pass out in that cave for, like, hours if that sunlight wasn't it middle of the night? Yeah, I don't think I hit my head that hard, but maybe. [00:43:25] Speaker D: Or walked away long, long way. [00:43:29] Speaker C: I don't know. I just sort of got up and ran. I didn't check the time. [00:43:35] Speaker D: I don't have the time. [00:43:38] Speaker B: Yeah, I left my wristwatch at home. [00:43:41] Speaker C: You brought a weather vane Sundial. Not a watch. [00:43:46] Speaker B: Sundial. [00:43:48] Speaker D: Your run. [00:43:52] Speaker B: Prized family possession. I couldn't bring it on a dangerous journey. [00:43:58] Speaker C: Respect. [00:43:59] Speaker A: That's really, really good, Ant. I don't know. I mean, your journey to the sky tower. Sky tower. Sky watcher, sky reader. [00:44:09] Speaker B: There was a tower. [00:44:10] Speaker A: The sky reader's home was probably, like, the most planty Kind of behavior that you've ever seen before. What is this experience like for you? Carrying this light glowing flower and kind of seeing life spring to light before you? Like is that unsettling to Ant or is it like a pleasant surprise? Like how, how is he feeling about this? [00:44:35] Speaker B: I think it, it feels like everything is like right. Like this is what it's supposed to do. I mean being from somewhere like desert, you don't see a lot of plants except for the, the most hearty of plants. This one is stacking up as a pretty hearty plant so far. But no, like if you do find flowers in, in the desert, it's always a really like awe inspiring and awesome sight. So I think he, he feels kind of honored that he's carrying a plant. He hasn't told anyone, but he's, he's real happy he's carrying the plant. He's like, he's liking it. So I love it. [00:45:17] Speaker A: Amazing. Yeah. As you're walking, you guys probably travel for a good hour or so just kind of plodding on along this path. You're keeping your eyes peeled for any kinds of exits or anything like that. But it doesn't seem to be anything that you're able to clock as like, here's how to get out of this tunnel, cave thing. So you just carry on. You get to a point where you kind of pause for maybe some lunch, breakfast, a meal, get some grub in you at some point. And as you kind of stop and you're eating a little bit. And when you get on the path again, you realize that you've been kind of going on this slight incline. So you're going uphill a little bit, which is probably a good sign for being under a lake. And as you kind of go a little farther, you see this kind of glow coming as this path that has been fairly straight for the most part seems to sharply turn to the left and you see this wash of green kind of come across as if something is glowing or reflecting from the other. Like just around this corner. Is there anything that you would like to do or are you just gung ho heading forward. [00:46:39] Speaker B: You said so like it turns to left and there's a lot of greenery. [00:46:44] Speaker A: So it looks like there is green kind of light coming from. You haven't gone around the corner just yet, but just this kind of light and green. [00:46:57] Speaker B: Yeah. I think Anthony's gonna turn back to everyone and be like, do we think the green light is good or bad or a problem or. We'll be fine. [00:47:11] Speaker D: Well, what Direction. Is it, like, coming from, like, compass wise? [00:47:20] Speaker A: Cardinally. Yeah. You've been traveling north. It seems to be coming from the west. So you'll turn to the west. Be going straight west and does the like. [00:47:32] Speaker D: We could keep going, though. [00:47:35] Speaker A: It seems to come to an end. Or you go left. [00:47:39] Speaker D: So that's, like, the only option. I don't really think matters much. Doesn't look like we have no choice, so Hope for the best. [00:47:50] Speaker C: Green means go. [00:47:51] Speaker D: Prepare for the worst. [00:47:55] Speaker B: I. I have a mirror. I could maybe, like, peek around the corner. Is that something that we think might be a good idea? [00:48:02] Speaker D: Great idea. [00:48:04] Speaker B: The entity in the sky is nodding at me. Yes. Don't know. I just think that's cool. The metaphorical sky. Yeah. Okay. Ant's gonna hand the plant to, I guess Tesley, because she's. She's right there, and then pull out my little mirror shard and do a little awesome mirror thing. [00:48:30] Speaker A: Go ahead and make me an erudite roll plus one. Since you have a tool helping you out, your difficulty is gonna be, like, a 7. This is not a hard, hard check. It's just to see, like, how much the turret that you're picking up on. [00:48:43] Speaker B: 11. [00:48:44] Speaker A: Whoa. Okay. Big old googly eyes over here. Seeing everything. [00:48:51] Speaker B: My purple and gold eyes. [00:48:52] Speaker A: Purple and gold eyes protagonist. [00:48:56] Speaker B: I'm the chosen one. [00:48:58] Speaker C: The chosen one. [00:48:59] Speaker A: And I love it. I love it so much. Yeah, you're kind of using this mirror shard and peeking around the corner, and you are just kind of astounded by the amount of lush greenery that is in this next room. It's not that there is actually a glow coming from, but the sort of rooftop that has been over you seems to have crumbled away. And it's just this room, and direct sunlight is coming and beaming down into this room. And there are so many different plants. There are huge leafy things like totoro, big leaf umbrella kind of style plants. There is, like, moss and long grass that covers the ground. There's some, like, small, like, lumps of, like, small hills almost that have, like, multicolored flowers kind of growing out of them. And as you're kind of turning this light or this mirror around and looking and scanning all over the room, you see kind of on the opposite side of this sort of room, there is a doorway of some kind. It seems to be like a very neatly, ornately carved doorway that looks very old, covered in spots of lichen and moss and grubby kind of like the plants have definitely taken this room over, and that's what you see in the room, you don't see anything that looks a threat. You don't see any people or animals or anything like that. Just a beautiful kind of slice of nature in this mostly stony place. [00:50:41] Speaker B: Yeah. I think Ant will kind of put the mirror away and be like, whoa. It's kind of like an oasis. [00:50:48] Speaker D: And wander in, look behind Finn, and then wander in behind Ants. Keeping eyes out. [00:51:00] Speaker B: Finn's gonna trust the beautiful oasis. [00:51:03] Speaker C: Finn's gonna lean over to Tessily and is just gonna say, I feel like I read a book once where someone was. Saw something really pretty and it ended up bad. It might have been the goblin into the pit. [00:51:20] Speaker D: I mean, I don't want to spoil anything if you're not done yet, but it is a pretty common trope. [00:51:27] Speaker C: I mean, I trust Ant, but. [00:51:32] Speaker A: The flower glows a little, Meg. [00:51:36] Speaker C: Making me a mechanic where I get to be nice to my buddies. I know it wasn't made just for. [00:51:41] Speaker B: Me, but also, wasn't it the gargoyle in the pit? [00:51:45] Speaker C: Oh, is it the gargoyle? [00:51:48] Speaker B: And you said the goblin. [00:51:50] Speaker C: It's fine if you want to retake that. [00:51:53] Speaker B: No, I think it's funny. [00:51:54] Speaker C: I don't have my glasses. [00:51:55] Speaker B: I think it's hilarious. He's actually talking about the second book in this. He's read the Gargoyles. The second one. He's read the first one, the. The Goblin in the pit. [00:52:05] Speaker C: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. This will. [00:52:06] Speaker B: It's like. It's like the box tree kids or whatever. Or box car. No, not box car. Magic tree house. Where, like, each one is. Is similar but different. It's all about the pit. Each one the pit and something else. [00:52:22] Speaker A: Not the pit. In the Pendulum. [00:52:27] Speaker C: Everyone loves a good pit. [00:52:29] Speaker A: We at spells and whistles, especially Lucas. It's like a running. [00:52:33] Speaker C: Endorse the pit. [00:52:35] Speaker A: Endorse the pits. I didn't even intentionally give you a pit. It just happened. The pit just happens. The pit happens. You pit happens. We have to name an episode that at some point, I kind of lost my train of thought of where we were. But you step into this room, this beautiful green room, discuss. Okay, yeah. You were discussing the pit and the gargoyle or goblin or whatever multi series. Multi book installation you've been reading. Yeah. Is there anything that you would like to particularly look at, or are you just heading for the door? [00:53:18] Speaker B: I don't think Ant is heading for the door. I think Ant is wandering. It's got distracted by greenery. [00:53:26] Speaker A: Yeah. I think there's a butterfly in here. And I think that is, like, crazy for you. [00:53:32] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:53:33] Speaker A: It's this beautiful, like, pink and purple, and it flutters down so delicately and so lightly and settles on, like, a patch of small blue flowers. You see, you, like, get way up close and it's proboscis is like, like slurping up all. Sorry, that was probably horrible to listen to. [00:53:52] Speaker D: No, it wasn't. [00:53:55] Speaker A: Asmr. Yikes. Content warning for slurping. [00:54:00] Speaker C: Slurp. [00:54:01] Speaker A: Proboscis. Mention. Mention. Yeah. You see this butterfly kind of sipping on the nectar of the flower? That's. [00:54:12] Speaker B: I'm having a Nat Geo moment right here. David Attenborough's like, narrating in my mind. It's fantastic. [00:54:19] Speaker C: Absolutely. [00:54:20] Speaker A: It's beautiful. The flowers smell great. The grass is, like, really soft. If you've, like, knelt down very, very. Just lovely little place, and you see something dart in the corner of your eye. [00:54:36] Speaker B: I'ma look where I saw it. I'mma look over. [00:54:40] Speaker A: Yeah. It's very difficult to really get your eyes on it because it is moving very quickly. And it is a very similar shade of green as the grass kind of all around you, but it kind of skippers and scuttles through the grass. And you see it's heading for the door. And before you can really say anything, you see something wiggle through the crack in the door. And you hear a thump as the door closes. [00:55:11] Speaker B: Hey, what was that, guys? [00:55:14] Speaker C: Huh? [00:55:16] Speaker A: The rest of you, you saw this, like, tiny bit of movement happen and the door pull itself shut. But that's all that you were able to kind of clock from that. [00:55:26] Speaker D: I think Tesley's been, like, jotting notes down. [00:55:38] Speaker C: Do we need to hold hands again to open the door? [00:55:43] Speaker B: Maybe we need to compliment the door. [00:55:44] Speaker A: Oh, I think as you say that fin, there is this small kind of grinding sound of stone on stone as a little, like, window latch kind of opens in this stone door. And you hear this voice say no. And that is where we will end the episode for this session. [00:56:06] Speaker D: I'm so glad we get to play again right now. [00:56:08] Speaker C: A grungly little guy. [00:56:12] Speaker B: Is that a no to holding hands or a no to compliments? [00:56:18] Speaker A: Thank you so much for listening at home. I hope you're enjoying this little Tunnel Goons miniseries. It's been so much fun and I want to thank our guest players, Lucas and Morgan. Such a pleasure. [00:56:29] Speaker B: I'm waving. So keep your eyes peeled and your ears open. I guess I don't know. [00:56:48] Speaker D: Other way around. [00:56:50] Speaker A: Your ears open and your ears peel. [00:56:53] Speaker D: Yes. [00:56:53] Speaker A: Okay. [00:56:54] Speaker C: I just peel open everything.
